JOB TITLE

Sr. General Laborer

Shift: Night Shift-8 Hours from 10:00pm to 6:30am

Basic Purpose

The Sr. General Laborer is responsible for various day to day activities in the Gum Recovery Department. Job functions include, operating various equipment throughout the department, the handling and initiating movements of various recyclable products and non-recyclable products, perform various cleaning, inspection, and lubrication tasks, work to manage and improve inventory levels daily, and other duties as assigned. Effective communication, team work, and leading/participating on continuous improvement initiatives are required to be able to consistently meet business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·  Responsible for performing a various range of jobs throughout the department.
·  Responsible for operating forklift equipment to pick up and transport various forms of recycle gum products.
·  Responsible for operating unwrapping equipment, pellet crushing equipment, and bare gum inspection equipment.
·  Responsible for ensuring the accurate weights of product produced and proper documentation is followed according to standards.
·  Responsible for completing quality inspections and documenting results according to standards.
·  Responsible for ensuring that materials (package waste, bare trim, etc.) are properly labeled and utilized by flavor to assure adherence to processing schedule. Utilize the FIFO principle as product is placed/pulled in material storage.
·  Responsible for monitoring the process, the equipment, and escalating abnormalities on systems to their Shift Lead, Maintenance, and or Quality Assurance.
·  Responsible for documenting the processes material usage and performance in accordance to all paperwork policies and procedures (i.e. Safety, Quality, Trim Log Sheets, Downtime, etc.)
·  Responsible for keeping the gum recovery area clean and organized while following GMP’s and local 5S standards. Perform cleanouts and changeovers according to standards (i.e. work instructions, checklist, etc.). Possess the ability to perform the job and meet the physical demands and skill level required for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of Fork lift experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience operating production equipment while meeting all safety, quality, and productivity requirements.
• Participate as a team player while accomplishing all company goals and objectives

• Good written and oral Communication skills. Efficient in basic Mathematical equations. Demonstrated ability to operate basic computer programs. Basic analytical and problem-Solving skills. Basic use of various hand Tools.

Physical requirements
• Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, dumping and rolling of barrels (25-105 kgs)
• Frequent pulling and inspecting of gum trays (25 lbs.)
• Frequent lifting/carrying of materials, trim bare & packaged.
• Frequent clean out of equipment, and conveyor using scraping tools.
• Frequent use of moving of skids using a pallet jack or forklift
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping and bending.
