Job description

SALES
· Make the most effective use of space and stock available to the store by maximising sales and minimising wastage of resources.
· Ensure that the merchandise is displayed effectively using promotional material to reflect current demand.
· Achievement of sales budget.
· Train staff in selling techniques and product knowledge to ensure that there is an effective selling team within the store.
· Handle customer complaints tactfully and effectively.
· Prioritise and initiate Company objectives.
· Awareness of competitor activity and communicate this to the team.
· Be fully aware of the Burberry Experience programme and to make sure the team follows the programme at all times

MERCHANDISE

· Maintain the correct basic stock levels within the store.
· Work closely with the Store Manager and the Buying team to provide effective feedback, ensuring that popular selling lines are replenished on time.

SECURITY

· Ensure that the position of stock, in the store is designed to minimise theft by customers or staff and that the Company procedures on security in relation to theft are adhered to.
· To report all suspected shoplifters to the Loss Prevention / Management team.
· As a key holder – to be available to attend alarm call outs in the event of the alarm sounding outside of normal working hours.
· Ensure that all staff know and follow the Company systems on:
· Cash handling
· Credit authorisation
· Arrangement of staff purchases
· Reporting of stock, cash and loss

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATION

· Provide effective democratic leadership and control for the staff.
· Ensure that staff are providing an excellent level of customer service and meeting the general needs of the store and its customers.
· Supervise on the job training for new staff.
· Identify, in conjunction with the Store Manager, the training and development needs of the staff.
· Carry out, where appropriate, staff training sessions.

· Appraise staff performance during the probationary period and annually.
· Ensure, in conjunction with the Store Manager that Inspired Customer Service Checklists are carried out with all team members each month and submitted by the 18 th of each month
· Ensure that all employees are well presented and complying with the Company dress code.
· Control absence and turnover.
· Recruit high calibre staff and manage their induction and performance effectively.
· Apply Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures appropriately and correctly.
· Deal sensitively and appropriately with welfare issues.
· Deal with visitors, press and any other personnel with discretion and professionalism.

PROFIT MARGIN
· Manage and achieve operating cost targets in line with the profit and loss.
· Protect the assets and profits of the store.
· Initiate and drive a theft and loss strategy.
· Identify cost saving opportunities and efficiencies.
· Manage the cash and stock account systems.
· Minimise the wastage of resources.

COMMERCIAL AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

· Exploit all operational and administrative systems to maximise commercial benefits.
· Implement and maintain effective administration and stock management systems.
· Information management: to ensure the production and analysis of product information by exception.
· Management controls: ensure adherence of legal regulations and protection of the Burberry brand.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

· Ensure that EC Health and Safety legislation is adhered to within the store for both staff and customers.
· Identify and carry out where appropriate, any training in respect of health and safety.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

GENERAL

·  Contribute to the Company administration systems and procedures to minimise losses.
·  Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and retail standards within the store.
·  Ensure that a staff rota is completed in advance and that the necessary resources are available for the full trading week.
·  Ensure that as a part of the management team, the Assistant Store Manager also participates in weekend trading.
·  Be available to work weekends and public holidays when required.
·  Be responsible for opening/closing the store, as well as setting the alarm.
·  Participate in stock takes outside of normal working hours to ensure a smooth operation at all times.
·  Be responsible for and to provide management cover for all areas within the store i.e. menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, accessories, and office, as and when required.
·  Carry out any additional duties as directed by the management team.
