InterContinental Hayman Island Resort in the Great Barrier Reef is an ultra-luxury private island resort that has recently undergone restoration and construction works. Officially reopening to guests on 1st July 2019, we are seeking engaged and motivated professionals to be a part of our reopening team. We currently have an opportunity for an  Engineering Trade Assistant to join the team on island for this exciting journey.

Your day to day

If you'd like to embrace a wider world of experiences and opportunities, we'd like to welcome you to the world's most international luxury hotel brand as an Engineering Trade Assistant.  A key role in our dynamic live on island team who works across all resort maintenance areas as required to assist tradesman in their duties to ensure minimal interruptions to the guest experience.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

·  Assist the Engineering Department in the day-to-day maintenance requirements.
·  Complete daily plant inspections.
·  General Handyperson duties, including minor carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.
·  Attend to guest requests for maintenance repairs.
·  On completion of daily rounds sign off any relevant maintenance tasks.
·  Service and maintain the resort waste streams and collections across the team as needed.

Requirements:

·  Previous experience working in a hotel maintenance department. 
·  Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
·  Demonstrate sound decision-making capability with the ability to work autonomously.
·  Available to work a 7-day rotating roster.
·  A commitment and achieving an incident and injury free environment.
·  Carrying out maintenance checks and repairs as assigned by scheduled maintenance programs.
·  Proactively showing initiative with ideas and problem solving.
·  Comply with company policy in regards to WH&S Quality control and environmental systems.
·  Working as needed to assist the wider Engineering team.
What we need from you

The ideal candidate will hold a Queensland General Safety Induction Card (White Card) and open driver's licence and have had experience within an engineering or general maintenance environment. Exposure to resorts or hotels will be a plus. To be successful in this role you will need to have good problem solving skills and possess excellent customer service & communication skills to support the wider Engineering department and Resort to deliver the InterContinental Life.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, and reporting tools like Hardcat and a working knowledge of general hand tools and domestic and industrial equipment is preferred and you will have the flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, weekends and public holidays across a seven-day roster. You must hold meet the legal requirements to work in this country.

Please note, the resort is currently a construction site with strict policies in place, including drug and alcohol policies, to ensure the health and safety of all team members.
