Position: Visual Designer
Product Area: Watson Health Life Sciences (Sugar.IQ)
Location: Austin, TX or Cambridge, MA (Boston)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Visual Designer on our Watson Health Life Sciences team responsible for initiating and maintaining user behaviors, evoking intended emotional reactions, and leaving users with a positive reflection when interacting with our products and services. While supporting the product teams, the visual designer will produce and harvest assets to be leveraged across our delivery teams. . Our environment is ever changing and requires a candidate who is flexible, thrives in ambiguity and can effectively collaborate across cross-functional groups and locations.

Although Visual Design will be your primary role, we're looking for candidates with secondary skill in Interaction Design.

Responsibilities include:
·  Work hands-on, creating interface and visual design solutions from concept to final code
·  Provide visual feedback and guidance to other designers as necessary on visual design execution as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
·  Team with user experience designers, design researchers and developers to ensure visual design enhances the overall user experience
·  Contribute to storyboards & task flows designs, effectively communicating visual intentions to the design team and sponsor users
·  Work with Experience Researcher to understand stakeholders, users and the markets in which they operate
·  Deliver pixel perfect hi-fidelity designs to enable front end development to deliver prototypes to engineering
·  Promote a user first approach to the stated problem
We're looking for someone who can:
·  Demonstrated ability to produce quick, low-fidelity sketches through to sleek, high fidelity visuals on tight schedules with a ton of iterations
·  Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in typography, color theory, iconography and data visualization
·  Demonstrated ability to synthesize real user feedback into designs
·  She the ability to work with and contribute to brand and design guidelines
·  Understanding product design principles
·  Display knowledge of accessible designs and globalization
·  Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including techniques to persuade and negotiate and the ability to articulate alternative approaches
·  Focus on exploration and inventiveness but balanced with reuse and extensibility
·  Be invested in discovering ways to evoke emotional and behavioral responses
·  Show exceptional attention to detail

Required Skills:
·  Bachelor's Degree in Visual Design or closely related field
·  Experience with Data Visualization and designing with big data
·  Portfolio/work samples at varying fidelity (show your process)
·  At least 2 years' experience as a visual designer with responsibilities and skills similar to the list above
·  At least 1 year of experience in Agile, Scrum and Lean
·  Experience working on complex products with multiple user groups
·  Secondary skill in Interaction Design, Motion Graphics or Front-end Development Preferred Skills:
·  Experience working with distributed teams, even better if you have international experience
·  Experience with Agile and Lean approaches
·  Experience with natural language processing or machine learning technology
