Position Summary

·  Thorough applied technical knowledge of the fundamental concepts and technologies associated with AIX Operating Systems (Hardware, Software). Capable of performing installation, implementation, customization, operation, recovery and performance tuning.
·  This role is performed by technical professionals who specialize in providing services to clients on hardware and software components. Activities include build, operation and maintenance of operating systems across multiple platforms, middleware applications, various database technologies, high availability solutions and load balancing. Job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following: operation and maintenance of operating systems and platform support, database administration, capacity planning, performance management, security compliance. Support is also provided for systems management tools which monitor the operational status of the environment. The employee leads technical support or the business processes.

· Other duties as directed by your Line Manager.

Responsibilities

Thorough applied technical knowledge of the fundamental concepts and technologies associated with AIX Operating Systems (Hardware, Software). Capable of performing installation, implementation, customization, operation, recovery and performance tuning.

Experience and working knowledge in key functional processes. Awareness of business activities.

Exchanges information, ideas and concepts. Requires negotiation to achieve coordination.

Use advanced technical knowledge to perform and apply new technical procedures to the business processes. May recommend improvements to existing technical procedures based on understanding of new technologies.

Working individually or as a team member, may set work priorities within well established procedures and objectives.

May provide coordination of activities.

Gives technical direction. Viewed as a technical expert.

Accountable for individual results, and for the impact of the results on the team, interrelated activities, or project.
