Job Description:

   

The Internship Program allows students to gain real-world work experience in HPC, often applicable in their academic field. Interns will partner with some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the HPC industry who help our customers solve the most demanding and important computing problems on the planet. Interns will engage in challenging projects using current and future generation supercomputers.  These projects are designed to stretch their skills and enrich their knowledge base to achieve a greater understanding of HPC, and hopefully, the desire to return as a professional member of the team.

Responsibilities:

This internship is in the HPC and AI Performance and Applications Engineering Team.  Projects could include gathering performance data for new hardware and software configurations, analyzing and optimizing the performance of applications, or working to understand the performance of HPC algorithms on various architectures that include CPU processors, GPU processors and accelerators.

The successful candidate will be able to:
•    Join a thriving, high tech, team environment
•    Collaborate with experienced members of the HPC and AI Performance and Applications Engineering Team
•    Generate detailed performance analysis information
•    Conduct project tracking and analysis
•    Effectively work on and prioritize multiple projects while maintaining high quality deliverables.

Education and Experience Required:

•    Bachelors degree 1st year of Master's program completed.

•    Excellent problem solving skills and analytical ability
•    Ability to use C, C++, Fortran, MPI, CUDA, Python and/or OpenMP
•    Ability to write robust, high quality scientific application code
•    Experience with scientific/engineering software for HPC systems
•    Experience/education in fields where HPC is used, including Deep Learning, Physics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Data Analytics, etc.
•    An understanding of architectural aspects of HPC systems [processor technology, networks, memory components, etc.]
•    An understanding of the issues affecting HPC application performance
•    Familiarity with Linux and parallel programming
•    The ability to quickly learn new skills
