Job Description:

   

The person filling this role will be responsible for being the architect and technical lead for our management firmware and overall management strategy for the Edgeline and Moonshot product families. This includes creating and driving our strategy as well working with a team of engineers to implement the firmware and management products.

Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies firmware (e.g., DSP, embedded code, BIOS). Work often involves analog and digital hardware and real-time operating systems. Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design. Typically programs in machine language, assembly language and high-level languages (e.g., C, C++).

Responsibilities:

·  Develop the organization wide architecture for embedded and systems level management of our Edgeline and Moonshot family of products.
·  Ensure that our BU’s management strategy is aligned with, enabled and supported by the global HPE system management strategy.
·  Identify the features and functions required by our customers for managing systems at the “edge” – non-datacenter environment
·  Active developer at implementing the architecture once defined
·  Provide technical leadership to other firmware engineers
·  Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
·  Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
·  Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
·  Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of firmware design and development innovation and excellence.

Education and Experience Required:

·  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Equivalent.
·  Typically 10+ years experience.
·  Multiple years’ experience in firmware design and system management
·  Knowledge of HPE’s existing management tools is a strong plus

Knowledge and Skills:

·  Experience designing and developing firmware and software for device and system management
·  Strong knowledge of industry practices and standards for device and system management (e.g. Redfish, REST, SNMP, IPMI…)
·  Multiple years of hands on use of modern programming languages and techniques including Python, REST APIs, web front end and back end technologies, Linux
·  Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
·  Able to work and communicate directly with our customers and field teams
·  Extensive experience in overall architecture of firmware and interaction with hardware designs for products and solutions.
·  Designing and integrating firmware into overall architecture and hardware design across multiple platforms.
·  Evaluating and selecting forms and processes for firmware testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
·  History of innovation with multiple patents or deployed solutions in the field of software design.
·  Experience with development teams that are spread across multiple geographies
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
·  Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
