Job Description Summary

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will support, work on projects and mechanical deliverables required by the engineering department. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be involved with machine lifecycle design from enquiry to remittance, commissioning and eventual disposal. You will use your skills and judgements to propose different solutions outside set parameters and address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. As the Lead Mechanical Engineer you will review the detailed mechanical engineering analysis, torsional analysis, rotor dynamic analysis, thermal analysis and hydrodynamic bearing analysis etc. using in-house design software, finite element software and hand calculations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Responsible for reviewing the detailed mechanical engineering analysis and design on all components required for large, custom rotating equipment. Calculations include stress analysis, torsional analysis, rotor dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, hydrodynamic bearing analysis, etc. This will require using in-house design software, finite element software and hand calculations.
  • Provide technical support to CAD design, manufacturing, and test personnel.
  • Read technical specifications and provide technical comment and clarification.
  • Support Service Team at commissioning and after and provide inputs in case of issue.
  • Participate in the global product Standardization/rationalization strategy

Key skills/abilities:

  • Knowledge of rotating machines
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, Ansys, Dyrobes, MathCad and other similar products
  • Knowledge on how to model, interpretate and design rotors based on rotor dynamics principles using DyRobes software.
  • Knowledge on FEA CFD analysis – preferably from Ansys suite.
  • Ability to work to drawings and schematics with complete accuracy, understanding geometric tolerances and key symbols
  • Ability to work within a team, use own initiative to meet production targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work to instructions and quality standards, completing quality documentation
