Role Summary/Purpose

The proposed thesis “Experimental - numerical analysis of innovative aerodynamic configurations for Low Speed Turbines” is aimed at implementing innovative airfoils configurations into a finalized design which will then be manufactured and tested.

Essential Responsibilities

The thesis will be carried out under the supervision of both an academic tutor (Politecnico of Turin) and also a Avio Aero internal tutor. The activity is composed of two parts: the first will dedicated to the learning of the fundamental aero design tools under the supervision of the Avio Aero internal tutor, while the second will be dedicated to the thesis research.
The whole project will be over by the second quarter of 2017.
This activity will use computational tools (Meanline and CFD) to design and implement some innovative airfoils configurations on a state-of-the-art Low Pressure Turbine, in order to help the engineers to increase the Technology Readiness Level and make them suitable for future product applications.
