Role Summary/Purpose
The Government Accounting Analyst is dynamic and plays an important role in providing support for government billing rates, labor vouchering process and ensuring compliance required for Department of Energy projects. The analyst will also be responsible for driving operational internal controls to deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Essential Responsibilities
· Data mining in support of developing Government Billing Rates
· Prepare / review monthly invoices to the Department of Energy for project expense reimbursements
· Manage the sub-contractor invoices and payments for the project
· Lead contact for reporting and analysis of monthly results for project labor cost
· Manage the labor vouchering process required for the Department of Energy projects
· Compile data and create accruals for monthly and annual closings
· Analyze GE Labor and Variable Work Force Labor
· Manage the expense reimbursement accounting for travel and living
· Ensure compliance required for Department of Energy projects
· Research/assist in correction of missing labor costs
· Assist GE Employees and sub-contractors with Oracle time vouchering and T/L Systems
· Run Oracle and Tableau Reports for Labor, VWF and T/L detail
· Identify and implement internal control and process improvements as needed
· Assist in oversight of annual government audits
· Assist in the preparation of presentations to management, staff, customers and sub-contractors
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college
· Minimum of 5 years work experience
Desired Characteristics
· MBA in Accounting or Finance
· Prior experience including financial controllership and/or government accounting
· Advanced Accounting knowledge
· Energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter
· Detailed oriented with excellent project management skills
· Strong organizational skills – ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure
· Excellent interpersonal, written / verbal communication, and leadership skills
· Proficient in problem solving and prioritizing
· Ability to work in a matrix organization and ability to react to emerging priorities
· Advanced Excel skills
