Role Summary/Purpose

You will join thePAM2 Marie Curie Innovative Training Networks program funded by the European Commission. You become a researcher embedded within BHGE with the aim of obtaining a 3 years PhD at University of Padua, under the academic guidance of Prof. Simone Carmignato. 
This is a Fixed Term Contract.
Essential Responsibilities

An improved Additive Manufacturing (AM) strategy to create complex surfaces within the production and physical constraints will be investigated and defined for identified critical features. 

In this role the Combustion Mechanical Designer will support the design of a New Product Introduction (NPI) component made in AM, supporting the development of Gas Turbine product lines. Role requires strong technical expertise, ability to work in a cross functional team, system design and integration engineering approach.

·  Have Gas Turbine product mindset and system engineering approach

·  Conceive ideas to solve mechanical problems on Gas Turbine

·  Drive component development from concept, requirements analysis, prototyping, qualification and validation of designs through lab testing and field hardware review

·  Develop solutions using CAD modeling and Drafting support

·  Conduct structural/thermal hand calculations and complex FEA to determine component stresses and life

·  Experience on Additive Manufacturing design and production

·  Facilitate technical discussions within Engineering, Sourcing and the Supply chain

·  Present ideas & analysis results through design reviews and drawing sign-off

·  Document all work in design record books
Qualifications/Requirements

The position is an Early-Stage Researcher within the framework ofPAM2 an EU sponsored Marie Curie project. 

The candidate must meet the following requirements:

·  Not resided in Italy for more than 12 months in the last 3 years and not have carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.)

·  Be at the date of recruitment an Early Stage Researcher ((i.e. in the first four years of his/her research career and not have a doctoral degree)

·  Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanic, Nuclear, Aeronautical)
·  Team Leader attitude, able to support development activities outside of individual domain expertise in a multitask and rapidly changing environment
·  3D modeling basic experience
·  Experience with Design process and tools
·  Fluent in English (written and verbal)
·  EU work permit
Desired Characteristics

·  Gas Turbine Combustion design experience

·  Six Sigma or equivalent certification.

·  3D modeling extensive experience (ANSYS knowledge)

·  Experience in manufacturing, field and product reliability
