DESCRIPTION

AWS Database Services is currently looking for a talented Oracle database administrator with 3+ years of experience for its Seattle (WA) or Herndon (VA) offices. The DBA will perform administration and engineering for multiple production databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fast-paced complex distributed database environments supporting primarily OLTP on a UNIX/Linux platform. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure.

- Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with AWS development Teams
- Maintain development and production environments
- Monitor and maintain database security and database software
- Database & Application( SQL & PL/SQL ) performance tuning
- Backup and recovery (RMAN and traditional)
- Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
- On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support
- Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
- Review, design and develop data models in conjunction with the application development teams
- Design, develop, and implement Oracle database instances for the development and production environments

This position can be located in Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, related field or four years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
- 3 years Database Administration experience with administering and supporting multiple Oracle databases on UNIX/Linux platform
- 3 years data modeling experience with conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning, in addition to SQL, PL/SQL, and UNIX shell scripting
- 3 years IT troubleshooting/problem-solving experience.

-This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.
