INTRODUCTION

Alstom in Italy can boast two centres of excellence in high-speed trains  Pendolino  based on tilting technology and in railway signalling equipment and traction systems. Alstom has made considerable investments in its industrial base in Italy. Alstom’s site in  Savigliano  (CN) is an example of  Factory 4.0 , with a cutting-edge 3D virtual reality room enabling our engineers to design trains for easier maintainability.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The ERTMS ATC (Automatic Train Control) System Designer is responsible for defining RBC (ERTMS) Signalling principles and rules, validate the RBC (ERTMS) Signalling Principles for every case of a signalling chart on a specific project and to deliver principles validation reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES includes:

The role is responsible for :

· Define Signalling Principles & Rules

· Contributes to the elaboration of technical tenders : analyses customer’s RFP documentation, and proposes the signalling principles to be applied.

· Elaborates Signalling Principles related to a specific project, by reusing or adapting existing, principles, or by creating new ones, in accordance with :

- Customer requirements (line capacity, number of trains per day, …)

- Signalling Program (operation oriented : location of siding tracks, turn-round areas, …)

- System architecture

- Signalling Charts

Example of Signalling Principle : route setting (describes the conditions for pre-setting of a route, for interlocking clearance, for points control, …)

· Defines the list of applicable signalling principles for each station

- Ensures technical and follow-up meetings with the customer

- Keeps a strong link with the Project Technical Manager, the Signalling Charts Definition Engineer,

- the Data preparation Engineer, the Data & Principles Validation Engineer and the WPO

Application Engineering

- Cross-verifies signalling principles defined by his peers on other projects

· Validate Signalling Principles : Defines the validation strategy, in accordance with :

- Customer requirements

- System architecture

- Signalling Charts

- Signalling Principles

Skills & Education

Essential Skills:  University degree in engineering is required for this role.

You come with previous design experience in railway signalling. You should have worked on Italian mainline, should have knowledge on SCMT system design.

Desired Skills : you should have relevant certification.
