We are looking for an Accountant , who will be based in our Chicago office.
The Impact You Will Have
This role bridges IT and Accounting, supporting the Financial close and closing team within North American entities. The analyst will manage regulatory data call submissions, interpret data requirements from state insurance departments and industry bureaus, and build automated reports using tools such as Power BI and other reporting tools. The role requires strong collaboration across actuarial, underwriting, claims, finance, and IT teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with P&C regulatory requirements. In addition, the role includes general accounting responsibilities such as financial statement preparation, audit coordination, and compliance with statutory and IFRS standards.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Lead end-to-end regulatory and industry data call submissions (e.g., NAIC, ISO, NCCI)
Gather, validate, and reconcile financial, underwriting, claims, and exposure data from multiple systems
Convert regulatory and internal data requirements into structured, automated reports
Develop and maintain reporting solutions using Power BI, Excel, and other reporting tools
Deliver ad hoc reports and data analyses to internal stakeholders
Monitor data call schedules and ensure timely, accurate submissions
Process payments for assigned assessments across legal entities
Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
Monitor changes to regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with accounting policy and regulatory agencies
Data quality standards within the team to meet regulatory requirements and internal reporting needs
Maintain documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and data sources used in reporting
Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements
Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities
Key contact for other functions regarding accounting results, processes, and internal controls.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
1-3 years experience in Financial Statement preparation
1-3 years experience working for an international organization
1-3 years experience in insurance accounting experience, including knowledge of US statutory and GAAP accounting principles. Knowledge of IFRS is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting , or Actuarial Science/Data Analytics preferred
Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, VBA/macros) and strong skills in SQL for querying and validating large datasets
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (ie Power BI)
Familiarity with insurance data structures (policy, claims, exposure, reinsurance) and regulatory submission systems (NAIC, state DOI, ISO, NCCI)
Experience with data warehouses/ETL tools (ie Alteryx) and programming knowledge for automation and analytics
Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is preferred
The annualized base pay range for this role is $64,400 - $97,371. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
