An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Choice Officer to work for a local authority organisation based in Newham. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and have a good knowledge in legislation relating to homelessness.

Key Duties:

·  Interviewing service users facing homelessness, assessing their needs and providing appropriate advice/support.

·  Acting as a mediator between service users and landlords/agents to try and resolve housing issues that are resulting in homelessness.

·  Assessing applications under the Housing Act 1996 to determine what duty, if any is owed to the applicant and ensuring they are notified in writing of any decision made.

·  Corresponding with any interested party on a range of housing issues and undertake regular visits to applicants homes as and when necessary.

·  Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies on behalf of service users and attend case reviews, case conferences and other multi agency forums where required.
