Group Trucks Operations
The Operations Graduate Development Program is an entry-level rotational program designed to provide recent college graduates with an opportunity to work in challenging environments while learning how our organization provides complete transport solutions. Applicants must have successfully completed degree in 2018, 2019, or no later than June 2020.

During 15 intense and exciting months, starting September 2020, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group's global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end to end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations.
In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several “on-the-job” rotations and have the opportunity to work on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.
The Volvo New River Valley Truck Assembly plant is responsible for producing ALL Volvo trucks for the North American market. As part of that, the Manufacturing Engineering Team has the responsibility to define and optimize the Assembly Operation process. Our mission includes providing engineering support for current production processes, managing all new product projects and capital industrial projects, development of lean manufacturing concepts using the Volvo Production systems and the adaptation of new technology into our manufacturing teams.
THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
Our motivated and highly competent manufacturing engineering team optimizes our assembly processes with focus on safety, ergonomics and efficiency. We work closely together with the production operators, other functional engineers, tooling engineers and line management to work out the most effective solutions for all the challenges in the assembly process. We are a deliberately collaborative team that consists of 96 members (Managers, Project Managers and Engineers). We are part of the connected global team of manufacturing professionals across the Volvo Group world leveraging the best ideas and proven solutions. The New River Valley Truck Assembly Plant is in the early stages of the biggest transformation since the existence of the plant. This journey will include and developing new systems, processes and tools for implementation by our operations team to improve plant performance, customer excellence and ensuring a future for Volvo Trucks and our families in this area. YOUR MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will support the Manufacturing Engineering Director to develop their future engineering portfolio. In that perspective, you will prepare the implementation of Product and Process changes with the operational teams in the Truck Assembly plant and you will interact with Volvo Group Design departments. You will also participate in developing the Manufacturing Technologies of the future in relation with Volvo Group advanced Engineering teams.
Eventually you will participate in our journey to reach Excellence by supporting the enhanced development of the Volvo Production System in the Manufacturing Engineering environment. You are expected to think out of the box to bring business values to fruition through innovation and technology.
WHO ARE YOU?
To be successful in this role you will possess the following qualifications and skills :
· A BSc or MSc in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or related Engineering discipline .
· Successful completion of degree in 2018, 2019, or not later than June 2020.
· Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
· Applicable internship or co-op experience with exposure to advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 & AI, machine learning, block chain, automation, data science, and smart sensors.
· Fluent in English.
