Job Description

Depending on the requirements of the project(s) under the responsibility of the engineering manager, the role will include some or all of the following responsibilities.

 

General

•                   Adhere to and effectively communicate the project HSE policy.

 

Project bid and development phase

•                   Implement the design and engineering strategy for specific floating or bottom fixed offshore wind projects in UK and internationally,

•                   Follow up the engineering budget and program for specific projects,

•                   Develop DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX estimations,

•                   Prepare technical and engineering decisions to be made,

•                   Work with other parts of the project team to establish the design basis (geotechnical investigations, metocean data, wind data, bathymetry etc.)

•                   Liaise with subject experts, define scopes for internal subject experts to deliver, follow up deliverables,

•                   Contribute tender documents, define scopes of engineering studies, coordinating tenders and following up contracts for specific engineering tasks,

•                   Ensure interfaces with other packages, contractors and stakeholders are identified and appropriately managed,

•                   Ensure requirements in terms of quality, and HSE are met,

•                   Follow up of engineering studies,

•                   In charge of reporting & progress control and expediting of deliverables & technical queries,

•                   Draft tender responses where required,

•                   Carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position.

 

Pre FID phase

•                   Coordinate the engineering aspects for specific packages and projects,

•                   Participate in preparing technical parts of invitations to tender including applicable standards, design codes and certification requirements,

•                   Participate in assessing technical parts of proposals in terms of scope of services offered and evidence of reliable technical compliance,

•                   Participate in contract negotiations,

•                   Review of the contractor’s design,

•                   Review of contractor’s transportation and installation method statements,

•                   Coordinating the certification,

•                   Coordinating technical queries.

Candidate profile

·  This role would suit a degree qualified engineer with a minimum of 5 years working experience, the candidate will be a generalist, but bring experience and knowledge of offshore structures and/or floating structures. Previous experience on offshore wind projects would be advantageous. The candidate should have some experience in contract and subcontractor management.  
·  The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
·  Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,
·  Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,
·  Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken),
·  The technical skills to understand complex offshore operations and the ability to exchange with and understand subject experts,
·  Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,
·  Ability to use Microsoft Office.
