The main objective of the Network Systems Engineer is to perform all the necessary engineering activities to allow the delivery of the Systems including integration with related systems, within the program milestones, in compliance with specifications and within budget.
The Network Systems Engineer will be in charge of the design, dimensioning and integration of fiber optic backbone networks (SDH/DWDM) and the relevant transported services.

Key Responsibilities
In close coordination with the System Engineering Manager, the Project Manager and the other team members, He/She will be responsible for all the activities relevant to the assigned subsystem, ensuring the predefined results on time, within the budget and with the expected level of Quality.
The Systems Engineer will:
• Analyze the Technical Project Scope of Works relevant to the assigned subsystem (scope, technical issues and risk assumptions);
• Conduct and perform design for the assigned subsystem, applying technical guidelines and principles communicated by the System Engineering Manager;
• Ensure production of adequate documentation and design with relevant Bill of Quantities for all needed materials and spare parts;
• Prepare the technical part of the Requests for Quotations for each material/service to be purchased, in accordance with Company guidelines;
• Identify and analyze the requirements (Contractual and System Requirements phase), defining the subsystem architecture, allocating the requirements to the components, defining the interfaces between components, developing the solution (System Design and Development phases), integrating, verifying, validating and qualifying the subsystems (System Integration and Acceptance phases);
• Produce technical procedures, manuals (installation procedures, FAT procedure, commissioning procedure) and define the test instruments to be used on site;
• Help the System Engineering Manager for the conformity with requirements, quality, performance, Customer satisfaction budget and schedule relevant to Networking subsystems package;
• Cooperate with System Engineering Manager in proposing the technical solution and the general Networking subsystems architecture;
• Support the deployment/installation and site acceptance activities;
• Help the System Engineering Manager to ensure coordination and communication among the various players in technical activities and a smooth transition of responsibility to "Installation and Commissioning" organization;
• Establish internal targets in line with contractual technical requirement and Company expectations, as communicated by System Engineering Manager and Project Manager;
• Manage all the activities concerning potential technical Variations of Scope of Work;
• Together with the System Engineering Manager assist the PM, the Contract Manager and the Sales department in the technical negotiation of the change proposals;
• Revise all the Network technical documentation to be submitted to the Customer;
•Help the System Engineering Manager in preparing the list of deliverables for their subsystems;
• Ensure adequate technical support to on site activities (which include also specific missions on site, when necessary, for startup, supervision, commissioning and closer support);
• Support the Purchasing Department in the definition of subcontracts and technical standard clauses to be inserted in the Sub-Contract Agreement and in the Purchase Orders;
• Participate to Project Meetings (internal and external: with the Customer, subcontractors and other entities) when scheduled and/or requested.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering;
- Fluency in Italian and English;
- Mandatory proven experience in the design and engineering of the following systems:
• Design, integration, dimensioning of SDH & DWDM transport networks (main suppliers);
• Design, integration, dimensioning of Microwave Radio links (main suppliers).
- Knowledge of Network management systems and techniques;
- Good technical analysis and technical document writing;
- Good knowledge of main protocols and redundancy schemes;
- Good knowledge of IP Networking.
