Who are we looking for?
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Certified Public Accountant or equivalent designation.
• Two or more years Big 4 experience highly desired.
• Strong technical financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting both IFRS and US GAAP.  PCAOB standards and SEC regulations highly desired.
• Experience in implementing new Revenue Recognition and Lease Standards highly desired.
• Very analytical.
• Must have the ability to research accounting for complex transactions. 
• Must be able to formulate reasoned responses to technical accounting questions extemporaneously. 
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting literature, professional journals, and other relevant regulations. 
• Ability to manage multiple project and priorities, write executive level reports, facilitate meetings, and solve problems. 
• Excellent interpersonal, organization, analytical and computer skills. 
• Strong leadership abilities.

What will you be doing?
Guided by professional Accounting Standards and desired outcomes, the Senior Research Accountant, working under the broad direction of the Research Accounting Leader, is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing a variety of accounting research duties.  The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the establishment of a central research accounting function and for providing ongoing reporting to a variety of stakeholders both within and external to SUEZ.

Responsibilities:
The Corporate Accounting team is the global professional practices group within SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions (SWTS). The position is expected to contribute to these areas:
• Participate in strategic initiatives, new product offerings, partnerships/joint ventures and other key drivers of SWTS’s future growth.
• Assist senior management with making critical business decisions by providing the proper accounting treatment and impact analysis.
• Accelerate transformation and change, create best practices and drive continuous process improvement.
• Work with department and business leaders on front-end process ideas, solutions and change.
• Establish, maintain and support compliance with companywide accounting policies.
• Research accounting issues and prepare accounting documentation to ensure compliance with both IFRS and local GAAP.
• Review and provide technical guidance for material transactions and complex accounting issues.
• Support implementation of new accounting standards.
• Review business unit initiatives and transactions to ensure consistent application of the Company’s accounting policies.
• Provide guidance and support other finance and business unit initiatives.
• Research emerging accounting and reporting issues and prepare and submit comment letters on behalf of the Company.
• Develop and present technical accounting training sessions to accounting and finance employees.
• Support quarterly close process and related disclosures.
• Interact with the Company's external auditors
• Work with general accounting to develop processes and transition new accounting resulting from new guidance as directed by the Global Controller and/or CFO.
• Oversee the accounting for complex technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition, contract accounting and lease accounting. 
• Prepares and/or review the Company’s contractual obligations and commitments, revenue recognition and lease accounting memorandums. 
• Perform other job-related functions as necessary and or as assigned.
