Job Overview and Responsibilities:

The intern will be in charge of development of Economic Intelligence with research to conduct on new indicators, new analytical tools and methods
and on communication for non-scientists.
- New forecasting methods: The solution will complete our current “home-made” forecasting tool. 
A part of the internship will be to develop predictive analysis with statistical and probabilistic models, in interaction with IT and SI teams and by using a Big Data environment. 
The aim will be to valuate some forecasting statistical methods proposed by the supplier Dataiku by comparison with our current tool.
- Research of key indicators for Solvay: Our businesses depend on the health of markets but also on global environment, regulation and policy. The research of new key indicators for markets, countries or regions will be a part of the mission, in collaboration with businesses and country analysts.
- Improvement of the communication of analytical tools to non-scientists: Our forecasts are built to facilitate decisions of the strategic direction of the different businesses and functions in the Group. A good communication of the analysis behind those forecasts is important. It’s based on different statistical tools and needs improvement by using an easy written communication for non-scientists.
- The intern will have to work with a Big Data environment powered by multi data sources, all used within the Group.
These data sources provide relevant indicators for Solvay such as macroeconomics, productions indexes; markets, financial indicators.

Education and Experience:

Required degree: Soon graduate of a master degree in Economics,
Engineering or Data Science, looking for a 6-month end-of-course internship

Skills:

Strong analytical, mathematical and statistical skills.
Human qualities: rigorous, curious, listening ability, flexibility, communication and clarity, strong capacity for analysis and synthesis.

English and French
