Description of the Business Line or Department

· 
Corporate Finance department focused on the oil & gas sector

Summary of the key purposes of the role

· 
An ideal opportunity for a Trainee to join the Corporate Finance franchise within a leading European Bank renowned for its award-winning Oil and Gas franchise;

· 
The position is based in London within the Oil & Gas Corporate Finance team;

· 
The candidate will receive a well-rounded experience of upstream, midstream and downstream subsectors; and European, African and Middle East geographies;

· 
You will be involved in executing Corporate Finance advisory, M&A, DCM and ECM deals across the sector;

· 
The candidate will be supporting a highly motivated group of juniors within the team in their daily tasks; and

· 
Daily responsibilities will include assisting on pitch materials, valuations of various companies and assets, researching sector related topics, reporting on Oil & Gas market activity, and preparation of various materials for live transactions.

Summary of responsibilities

·  Assisting the team with the origination and execution of Corporate Finance transactions (M&A, ECM, DCM and financial advisory) across the Oil & Gas sector;
·  Assisting with the preparation and pitching of presentations for clients, investors and the broader investment community;
·  Assisting with financial statement analysis and financial modelling;
·  Assisting with company valuations mainly using market multiples, M&A multiples and the DCF method;
· 
Assisting with preparing traded comparables analysis, as well as precedent transaction analysis

·  Undertaking company and industry research in the context of the origination and execution of transactions;
·  Assisting with the development of transaction structures / structured solutions;
·  Keep up to date about M&A, equity and debt related issues;
· 
Gathering market data to analyse market and investor trends

·  Working with other sector, country and products teams as required;
·  Develop and maintain sector expertise and certain client relationships in these segments; and
· 
Assisting the oil and gas corporate finance team in any other projects and assignments

Profile Required

Competencies

·

The position requires a curious, self-confident, extremely self-motivated and reliable person who is a quick learner and a self-starter. You must be able to deliver under challenging conditions to tight deadlines;

· 
Attention to detail is essential;

· 
Strong written and oral communication skills in English is essential;

· 
Strong technical (modelling, power-point presentations, data mining, research and commercial awareness) and analytical skills is necessary. An extremely good command of MS Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint is essential;

· 
Strong interest in Corporate Finance with some knowledge of M&A, Financial Advisory, Debt Capital Markets & Equity Capital Markets being advantageous;

· 
Good knowledge of the oil & gas sector, and transition technologies and routes to a low/no carbon economy is advantageous;

Work experience

None required, however previous internships or experience in Corporate Finance would be an advantage

Education

Graduate of a top university with a minimum 2:1 degree in an engineering, numerate, geology, commerce, accounting or finance discipline

Languages

· 
Fully fluent spoken and written proficiency in English

· 
Other languages, especially French would be an advantage but not a requirement
