We have openings for a hardware development intern at our Hoffman Estates, Illinois location. We are a high-growth, high-technology business leading the change towards personalized medicine.

The selected candidate will join the electrical engineering development team in the hardware department of the Molecular Imaging business unit. This team develops nuclear gamma ray detectors for SPECT and PET cameras used in the radiology departments of hospitals. The duration of the internship varies. However, the preferred length is at least a semester of school including the summer.

The electrical engineering intern position is an entry-level engineering support position intended to provide the intern with industry experience, a familiarity with Siemens, and enable Siemens to obtain an in-depth evaluation of potential future staff members. The intern will be assigned tasks that fall within the scope of a typical entry-level hardware engineer.

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As an Electrical Engineering Intern , your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

·  You will develop low complexity printed circuit board assemblies, test fixtures, test firmware/scripts for automated testing of assemblies, and hardware infrastructure (engineering tools, databases, websites) needed to support the engineering environment.
·  You will perform integration testing of new hardware/software releases with thorough documentation of test results and a written report summary.
·  You will create defect reports and verify fixes.
·  You will execute calibration and field return analysis.

·  You are enrolled in an electrical and/or computer engineering program at an accredited university. Preferred areas of study: analog and digital signal processing, electromechanical design, FPGA development, analog circuit analysis with PSpice, embedded applications.
·  You have a good PC skills (MS Office software like Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).
·  You will be working with our latest technology and therefore you are willing to learn about new software and hardware solutions.
·  You have good communications skills and team orientation.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

·  3.2 GPA or greater
·  Rising Junior or Rising Senior and pursuing your bachelor's degree.

Start date in January 2020
