Description:

This position is a technical leadership role that supports Application Engineering within Schneider Electric's Power Solutions Organization. The successful candidate will join a team of engineers involved in the design, testing and commissioning of critical power control systems. Typical applications include automatic throw-over systems, emergency generation, integration of renewable energy, islanded (microgrid) operation, etc. The team also provides quotation and proposal support to departmental sales engineers on distribution control project opportunities. The candidate will be instrumental in the development of design standards and best practices, as well as providing peer review of other's solutions.

What do you get to do in this position?

A. Perform design and commissioning activities on complex power distribution automation and microgrid applications.

B. Mentor and develop department engineers on proper design techniques and procedures used to engineer power distribution systems. Assist in the development and implementation of formal training programs for department engineers.

C. Provide technical support to sales engineers by reviewing customer RFQ's, specifications and drawings and providing technical assistance in the development of quotations and proposals.

D. Develop proposal documentation that can be used to support the marketing effort for both standard and custom control solutions regarding distribution systems reliability and microgrid applications.

E. Provide consulting support including the review of both low and medium voltage switchgear arrangements and the associated control components.

F. Interpret and apply applicable industry standards such as NEC, UL, ISO, IEEE, and other requirements as needed.

G. Participate in the development of standardized solutions as applicable to power system reliability and backup power systems.

Desired profile



Qualifications :

This job might be for you if:

· 5 – 10 Years in engineering and commissioning power distribution control systems.

· BSEE or equivalent; PE licensure a plus.

· 3 – 5 Years of experience specific to designing and implementing Generator Control applications. (e.g. paralleled operation, co-gen, peak shaving, demand response)

· Experience designing islanded distribution systems utilizing both traditional and renewable energy sources (microgrid, solar, fuel cell, etc)

· Strong background in PLC programming, relay control logic, and protective relaying applications. Proficient in IEC 61131-3 compliant programming environments such as Schneider's Unity or Concept software.

· Experience in the construction and operation of low and medium voltage switchgear.

· Strong background in the design of power distribution control solutions and backup power systems.

· Ablity to be customer facing with excellent communication skills. Ablility to work effectively in a group setting, team oriented and results driven.

· Experience with IEC 61850 compliant substation automation applications including IED configuration utilizing MMS and GOOSE protocols and network architectures.

· Estimated at approximately 25% travel
