Field Health & Safety Advisor – Utility Metering

IMServ, the power behind energy efficiency

At IMServ, we help our customers use energy better. Our people retrieve energy data from some of the UK’s largest energy consuming organisations. The industry relies on the information our people produce to trade, bill and understand billions of pounds of energy each year. Our specialist services, operated by our experts, deliver tangible energy, carbon and cost savings to our customers by giving access to data intelligence on ‘how’, ‘when’ and ‘where’ energy is used.

We need great people to help us do this. We care about the things you do: being open and trustworthy, delivering our promises, positive customer engagement, being trusted experts and taking ownership.

IMServ makes a real investment in people, offering a challenging but supportive environment, allowing employees to stretch, grow and develop. In terms of career progression, the availability of a comprehensive training programme ensures the only limits are your own drive to succeed.

IMServ require an enthusiastic individual to join the Business Support Team as a field-based Health & Safety Advisor. You will need to travel nationwide potentially 50% of your time including visits the office for face to face meetings, the rest of the time you will be home based.

You mission:

We are looking for someone to maintain and manage the development of the health and safety performance of a highly effective team of meter installers capable of multi utility meter installations.

The role requires you to be able to work autonomously but also ensure full co-ordination with the H&S Manager to whom the role reports, whilst also building an excellent day to day working relationship with colleagues in the field.

You will bring considerable experience and knowledge of the UK utilities market, a strong technical background in the world of metering, gas and electrical installations, and have extensive previous experience in the health and safety sphere.

Your main responsibilities:

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will help support the safe delivery of all metering and field operations activity, in particular the installation of both electricity and gas meters into our customers’ businesses.

You will work closely with key internal stakeholders including the Business Support Team, Field Services and the Field Management team to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and managed.

This role will create a transparent reporting mechanism to ensure IMServ’s technical health and safety performance is well understood by all appropriate levels within the organisation.

Understanding what ‘good looks like’ across the industry and benchmark against other supplier peers will help deliver a first-class health and safety service and help drive and support a continuous improvement culture, ultimately reducing safety incidents across our operational work streams.

The role

· Working with the H&S Manager to develop and manage field-based H&S policies and processes;
· Working with the H&S Manager and the field team to ensure all incidents are correctly reported and investigated, validation and submitting of safety investigations for approval to the H&S Manager, tracking resulting actions and ensuring full conclusion of investigations;
· Writing customer facing reports;
· Conducting trend analysis across available data to highlight declining or increasing trends of safety incidents, results of audits, areas for improvement;
· Attending external working groups to assist the H&S Manager to ensure IMServ are seen as a leader in the EHS space;
· Working with the H&S Manager and field team to develop and deliver training;
· Bringing a new perspective to our H&S provision and help to develop a strong H&S culture within IMServ.

About you:

· You will have proven and credible operational experience from a utilities industry, preferably electricity and gas metering, and strong understanding or experience from a Health and Safety context;
· Demonstrable experience or knowledge of managing and delivering health and safety policies and procedures across a business;
· You will have at least 1 recognised health and safety qualification (ie NEBOSH General Certificate);
· Strong achievement around developing and sustaining an HSE culture;
