Reporting to the Head of Architecture and Emerging Technologies in US Informatics the Principle/Distinguished Data and Information Architect will provide the thought leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design necessary to develop the data and information architecture across solutions and to ensure that it is leveraged. You will balance multiple projects, analyze business trends and strategy, as well as change requirements to guide solution decisions.

Responsibilities:

· 
Drives and takes the lead in identifying information value opportunities through strategic discussions with Senior Business and IT Leaders as needed and provides decision support.

· 
Acts as the USIX representative to define Information and Data Strategies as part of an overall Business Strategy.

· 
Partners with business and through the rationalization of the information value chain, provides strategic recommendations to maximize the value of information assets via their creation, access, and use.

· 
Confirm and track information value by ensuring suitable investment is made on high value data, shared data is well described and aligned to standards and reuse of interfaces is as high as possible.

· 
Develops and maintains a strategic cross-solution and cross-functional information landscape and flows for all enterprise solutions.

· 
Improves the overall quality of the enterprise data assets through the effective application of best practice in information architecture.

· 
Reviews and approves information and data model designs with a focus on those areas influencing interoperability, analytics including compliance with the enterprise information model.

· 
Ensures integration of project logical data models into the enterprise information model.

· 
Maintains repositories for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes, the information flows, business glossary.

· 
Participates in the development of Pharma information architecture, which will include a data model and a common business vocabulary, which will then be used to guide solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio.

Qualifications and Experience:

·  Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant technology field.
·  10-15 years experience IT with at least 5 years as an Architect.
· 
Is recognized as an expert in customer data domain and/or commercial data domain. Biotech / Pharma experience.

· 
Exhibits strong soft skills typically required as an Architect (i.e.: presentation and public speaking, negotiation, challenging the status quo).

· 
Exhibits an Agile mindset, i.e. Good enough instead of perfection and Focus on “Reuse before Buy before Make” when providing direction on future solutions

· 
Is a good team player in a global environment.

· 
Encourages a data citizenship mindset ensuring we all collectively take responsibility and accountability for the data we create, consume, manage and share.

Drive the increase in maturity and knowledge of information related topics across the organization through education and mentoring.

Has solid experience in following areas: glossary & data standards, data catalogue, information modeling, information flow management, data governance.

Self-motivated and team-oriented; able to work both autonomously and effectively as part of a broad team.
