Background

The position will be based at Roche Innovation Center Copenhagen (RICC). Based at the DTU campus north of Copenhagen, Denmark, RICC is a leader in the rapidly emerging field of nucleic acid based therapeutics. At RICC we utilize and develop the potential of the emerging technology to meet medical needs for patients.

The RNA Molecule Research (RMR) organization comprises capabilities for the discovery, optimization, and small scale synthesis of nucleic acid based therapeutics.

The appointee will report to the Head of Intellectual Property (IP) for RNA Molecule Research - located in Basel - and will be member of a team of two other European patent attorneys and a patent assistant.

Job Description

The position will entail:

Handling IP of all aspects of Roche's RNA Molecule Research. In particular, providing IP support for activities out of research, development, technical operation, business and legal units. This includes working with scientists and within projects, devising patent strategies, capturing inventions, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, counseling, agreements, freedom to operate, due diligence and oppositions and conflicts.

Traveling to Basel, Switzerland will be required.

Your Profile

You have an advanced science degree in organic chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences, preferably nucleic acid chemistry and preferably work experience in pharma/biotech industry or law firm.

In addition, you bring the following skills and competencies:

·  It is essential that you are a qualified European patent attorney and that you like working in an extended team of peers.
·  You have an open and flexible mindset, and are able to work both independently and collaboratively.
·  You have proven experience in counseling and prosecuting on complex patent matters and good knowledge of European and international laws, regulations, and processes.
·  Good knowledge of RNA therapeutics and an understanding of drug development is desirable.
·  Ability to navigate within a changing organization, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, and ability to question and challenge.
·  You have experience interacting with various stakeholders in an international setting.
·  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
·  Written and verbal fluency in English is required
