Are you passionate about solving tough challenges? How would you like to use your analytical and problem-solving skills to find creative solutions for consumer's everyday problems? If this sounds like fun, we would love to have you join us as a Summer Intern on our Beauty Technology naturals team!
The naturals area in Beauty Care is growing rapidly and now accounts for >20% of global sales. One of the key needs in this area is the identification of botanicals that deliver functional benefits. To ensure we have botanicals that can meet consumer performance needs and have good safety profiles, it is essential that we do fundamental understanding work on the botanical extracts and their compositions. Another key question is which of the components will penetrate our substrates (Skin & Hair) and how this relates to performance. In this intern project, the objective will be to profile botanical extracts using LC-MS methods and relate the composition of the botanicals with penetration data and performance attributes.
1. Review the literature related to botanical actives in Beauty Care.
2. Profile the composition of the chosen botanicals.
3. Measure penetration and performance of the chosen botanicals.
4. Correlate composition with penetration and activity.
At the end of the internship, you would be expected to summarize you data in a technical report and give a final presentation of your work.
