The Cloud Tech Architect will be part of the Platform and Tools team within Nielsen’s Data Science organization. The primary goal of the Cloud Tech Architect will be to enable Data Science to leverage cloud resources in day-to-day work. This will be accomplished by evolving the framework from which Data Science operates, developing tooling to lower the barrier to entry for new cloud services, as well as influencing best practices in the software development life-cycle.

Responsibilities:

· 
Architect solutions for Data Science leveraging cloud technologies

· 
Update current tech stack for various teams within Data Science to scale and use cloud resources efficiently

· 
Assess user workloads to determine which cloud services can and should be applied

· 
Implement CI processes and Cloud solutions framework

· 
Coordinate with Engineering teams to ensure standard operating procedures are followed with regards to PII, security, and cost tracking

· 
Work with internal data providers to grant and ensure access to data

· 
Keep up to date with new cloud services and how they may be leveraged across Data Science

· 
Troubleshoot and Support user issues as they arise

· 
Manage projects consisting of cross functional teams including data science, engineering, and product leadership

Qualifications:

· 
Degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other Quantitative field of study

· 
2 to 3 years experience with Linux/Unix like systems

· 
2 to 3 years experience with Python, Bash or other scripting language

· 
Detailed knowledge of key AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM etc.

· 
Hands on experience designing and building out the foundational infrastructure in AWS (VPC's, subnets, Route 53 set up, ELB's, IAM Roles & Policies)

· 
Strong knowledge of software version control (Git/BitBucket) in a collaborative environment.

· 
Knowledge of additional cloud providers (Azure / GCP) a plus

· 
Knowledge of Jenkins/Airflow

· 
Familiarity with Infrastructure as code concepts

· 
Familiarity with SQL and databases

· 
Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop / Spark / EMR a plus

· 
Exceptional problem solving skills

· 
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Well organized and capable of handling multiple mission critical projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
