Context and Organization

Created last year to host all our activities in the Telecom & Data domains, the Telecom & Data Business Group will form progressively a solid part of Nexans’ growth strategy. Telecom & Data Business Group has been set-up with the priority mission to accelerate our growth and differentiation worldwide.

It has strong regional differentiations which will be considered to leverage skills and customer intimacy for the benefit of an enlarged product and solutions offer.

Telecom & Data BG is a market driven organization, covering the following segments:

- Telecom Infrastructure Operators (Cables Lan, Fiber optic cables, components)

- LAN Systems

- Submarine telecom cable

The BG is globally responsible for maximizing our sales volumes and commercial margins for the segments and all channel served and is organized around:

- Business Units in NAM, APAC & Europe , in charge of the business of Telecom & Data in their Area,

- A sales coordination in MERA & South America, in charge of Telecom & Data sales in their Area

- A central team in charge of build our global offer and drive business innovation

Today the business group achieves 500 MEuros revenue within all entities consolidation, with the purpose to reach 1 Billion Euros in 2022 through organic and external growth.

The controller of the Business group is part of the central team

· Direct report to EVP Telecom (Nexans Management Board member)
· He/she ensures in addition the controlling of the European infrastructure BG, he is Member of the Telecom Infra Leading Team
· His/her managerial scope: for Infrastructure business in Europe he/she manages local controllers, he/she will have a functional link on controllers located in decentralized entities worldwide.

Purpose of the position

· is responsible for the controlling of the BG
· Protects the Group’s best interests by challenging business assumptions & decisions
· Reports and explains in a fact-based and transparent manner his/her assessment of key compliance issues
· Manages local controller teams and monitors efficiency at local level
· Provides an accurate and independent view of the financial situation of his/her scope. Analyzes and explains financial results, account closing balances , forecasts and cash flow generation over reporting periods
· Identifies & assesses risks & opportunities; mitigates risks, manages crisis and exceptional initiatives at country level
· In addition of his/her global role, assists the head of Telecom Infra on specific tasks/projects: turn around action plan follow ups, project tender reviews, performance dash boards, score cards…

Areas of responsibility

Business Performance and Partnering

· Elaborate the budget for the business groupe, with a more operational focus for Telecom Infra in Europe.
· Drive the definition of industrial and financial targets in accordance with Group and European guidelines.
· Propose monthly and quarterly objectives of OM and WC in cooperation with the sales manager of the perimeter, in accordance with budget assumptions and defined targets. Monitor the achievement through dedicated management routines and react in case of deviations
· Ensure a reliable and timely view on operational performance of consolidated Telecom business group contribution to Group financial statements:
· Leading responsibility on key financial processes: Sales / OM /OWC / Capex / Restructuring projects,
· Contribute to the definition and the roll out of appropriate financial information/performance measurement systems for Project Management in each of the Businesses
· Define & implement all processes & tools (inc. KPIs and dashboards) to strengthen performance monitoring
· Innovation: Promote and develop new methods and tools analysis
· Proactively identifies areas of concerns or opportunities and relevant actions requested
· Challenges the controller’s teams and the heads of businesses to improve forecast reliability, and decision accuracy.
· Defines Budget & participates to the strategic plan:
· Leading budget process,
· Contribute to Europe Strat plan exercise.
· Identify and deploy appropriate transversal projects to ensure consistency in performance monitoring systems/rules
· Coordinate actions of the Europe Telecom Infra controlling teams
· Is the point of contact of the Europe Controlling team for all financial issues related to Europe Telecom Infra

Candidate experience and c ompetencies

· Excellent numerical and analytical skills and ability to interact with operations
· Result oriented and hands on.
· Strong experience of Project type of activities in an international Group (understanding of FX issues ..)
· Practical experience as a financial controller but with good accounting skills or CFO experience
· Experience in the functional design, implementation and the use of performance and margin measurement tools and dashboard/score cards for project activities to support strong decision making processes.
· Ability to be involved as a key player in strategical decision and turn around projects
· Ability to be a change agent to promote common tools and approaches to project controlling/ performance measurement among the industrial controllers
· Hierarchical and functional management
· Written and oral communication skills
· English fluent
· At ease in industrial environment
