Description of the job

A vacancy has arisen for a Cost Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage
The successful applicant will be working within the Space System business line of Airbus Defence & Space and will form part of the transnational Earth observation, Navigation and Science (ENS) Cost Engineering team.
The role requires the candidate to support the company in the area of Business acquisition and to work as part of the bid team.
The scope of the role is mainly the estimate, collation and modelling of data as well as the analysis of cost and price to establish an accurate and optimized quotation baseline.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

·  Lead the costing, pricing and financial activities during Sales Campaigns and Transnational Missions Proposals.
·  Coordinate the costing process and reviews until final validation by management
·  Collate, model and estimate cost for studies, proposals and future projects
·  Lead the analytic cost estimate with internal technical team , product policy & procurement team for suppliers
·  Identify and implement areas for cost reduction opportunities. Contribute to Design To Cost / Make or buy analysis and subcontractors cost analysis
·  Contribute to risk analysis of proposals and define technical and financial provisions for risk
·  Support the price elaboration of proposals including internal/suppliers cost consolidation, provision, cash analysis, financial margins and analysis…
·  Support the price strategy and collaborate in price presentation & supports
·  Manage cost benchmark exercise to support business cases preparation, ; tools & methods improvement
·  Support & Enforce a high level of collaboration in transnational organization
·  Business travel can be expected (once a month)

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Strong knowledge of the whole satellite environment (satellite, ground segment, mission…)
·  Academic degree in Engineering or Finance / Business Administration
·  Technical skills and capacities to ensure consistency between costs and complexity of products
·  A minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Engineering, Project Control , engineering, proposals or project/ industrial management
·  Ability to work within an international team
·  very good communication skills
·  An experience of Space Agencies processes (e.g. ESA, UKSA) would be an advantage
