Job Purpose:

The Site Controls Engineer has a primary responsibility to ensure delivery of, and provide support as the first point of contact for all Factory Controls & IT related Systems following applicable Global/Regional Standards. They will own the Strategy for Controls & IT Asset Health Check Program as well as facilitate/lead the implementation of Factory Controls & IT projects.

Responsibilities include leading and developing the Senior Controls Technicians. Additionally, the Controls Engineer directs the modification and installation of control systems; facilitates the transfer of knowledge of control systems and electrical projects; supports the maintaining of controls networks, web servers, data historian and operator interface systems.

Key concepts of the role include, but are not limited to, developing control concepts, program design, coding and implementation, instrumentation selection and operator interface development. The Controls Engineer will have site responsibility, engaging with leadership teams and associates ensuring key responsibilities are understood and met.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery of Factory Control & IT related Services

·  Owner of the Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure in assigned area
·  Owner of the Automation Roadmap Strategy
·  Responsible for Cyber Security Compliance
·  Responsible for Implementation of Factory Controls & IT Projects
·  Primary Point of Contact for Operations, IE’s, and Engineering Teams responsible for delivery of Factory Controls & IT Initiatives
·  Direct the work activities of outside contractors, controls technicians, and other associates with the installation of instrumentation, PLC based control systems, and PC based operator interfaces
·  Establish and Monitor KPI’s related to Factory Controls & IT infrastructure, Services and Solutions to include Performance, Availability and Functionality Metrics
·  Coordinate with Maintenance Department in order to solve/define Improvements
·  Responsible for problem resolution for all Factory Controls & IT infrastructure
·  Participate in Regional and Global Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure related Projects
·  Ensure Operations on factory premises for Factory Controls & IT Systems (Automation levels 1 to 3)
·  Level 1 Networks
·  Level 2 SCADA PC hardware & OS
·  Level 3 MES / MOM
·  Support Engineering Projects by reviewing the design of control systems utilizing standardized design methodologies including Sequential Function Charts, Data Flow Diagrams and SAMA Diagrams
·  Manage the development and design of new computer applications by preparing system flowcharts, report and screen layouts, source documents, and detailed specifications
·  Prepare job aids, user documentation, systems documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials for plant automation systems
·  Act as technical resource to site on controls related issues including troubleshooting, analysis and recommending practical corrective actions for control related problems
·  Identify opportunities and recommend changes to improve plant performance
·  Use and follow all engineering standards when implementing projects
·  Provide input into site engineering standards for programming and systems design
·  Gather data and analyze information requirements in preparation for the design of Level I, Level II, Level III, and Factory IT control systems
·  Assist in performing programming, testing, and debugging for new systems as well as for the enhancement of existing systems
·  Modify/develop and Maintain/Sustain systems including, but limited to, Wonderware, Rockwell, Siemens, Iconics, and Traksys applications to support engineering projects
·  Support the introduction to the plant new control technologies for Level I, Level II, Level III, and Factory IT control systems
·  Manage the system management and administrative functions for PC and PLC networks, data historians, software version control and web based data display systems. This includes maintenance, enhancements, procedures development, and troubleshooting.

Provide Strategy for Factory Control & IT Asset Health Check Program

·  Inventory, control and purchasing of Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure components, including licensure/certification.
·  Recognize current phase of lifecycle for each Infrastructure Solution and Service and prepare appropriate action plan

Business Engagement and Communication

·  Expert in Factory Controls & IT, demonstrating clear understanding of the problems and opportunities for business change
·  Key contact for all topics related to Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure
·  Provide the communication and marketing of Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure Solution and Services to engineering, maintenance, and production
·  Constant communication with shift based production and maintenance teams to understand any breakdown or reliability issues
·  Responsible for effective use of Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure Services which includes providing trainings, guides and raising awareness of available IT tools and services
·  Achieve and maintain a high level of technical competency
·  Follow the guidelines and procedures provided by Regional/Global Factory Controls & IT organization
·  Establish and follow KPI’s and Service License Agreements (SLA) for every service provided
·  Manage direct reports, which include the Site Senior Controls Techs and Site Controls Techs, including recruiting for the controls team

Minimum Requirements:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or controls engineering related would be a plus)
·  3 + years Factory Controls and/or IT experience
·  Must be able to ascertain - through interaction with production and engineering staff representatives - the requirements for process control computer applications
·  Database Administration knowledge - knowledge of databases such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, and database connectivity using ODBC and Wonderware automation software
·  Experience in selecting and installing process instrumentation
·  Cisco Equipment Architecture knowledge
·  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or controls related would be a plus)
·  10+ years Factory Controls and/or IT experience
·  Comfortable working on live electrical panels independently
·  Server Administration Expert; Virtual Infrastructure Administration knowledge
·  Understanding of networks including Ethernet and Devicenet
·  Ability to troubleshoot programs residing in Siemens, and/or Rockwell Automation PLC Control Systems in the plant
·  A strong understanding of interfacing with PLC's, scales, display devices, and any other controls-related devices
