Yard Driver/Spotter - 2nd shift

Job description

This is a functional role within logistic providing transportation services utilizing Kuehne + Nagel provided yard tractors to shuttle carriers’ trailers between production buildings and yard staging areas. Position also requires the use of the customer’s yard management system which will be accessed through a wireless terminal installed in each yard tractor. Position must be filled by a fully qualified Kuehne + Nagel employee that is licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with State and Federal Regulations. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is not required for this position.

Your Role

Your Responsibilities

•Must possess good mechanical aptitude.
•Being physically fit, must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
•Attention to detail.
•Read and comprehend written documents such as work instructions, job aids, bill of materials, shipping and delivery documents.
•Ensure loads match transportation orders communicated by yard management system.
•Meet all safety requirements.
•Ability to work in a shared work area.
•Having good communication skills.
•Ability to follow proper procedures and guidelines.
•Being able to work in all weather conditions.
•Being able to meet strict delivery deadlines.
•Having good eye vision.
•Perform vehicle safety checks.
•Obey and follow established traffic and transportation policies.
•Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
•Maintains records (e.g. delivery log, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities.
•Submit and pass random Drug and Alcohol screening as required.

Your Skills and Experiences

•High School Education or Equivalent
•Driver Qualification Training / Driver Training Course from approved training provider
•Prior experience operating yard tractors
•Good driving record
•Ability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous tasks
•Good interpersonal and verbal/written communication
