Apprentice Data Center Operating Engineer

·  Surveys all light fixtures and replaces and cleans light bulbs and lenses as needed. Completes special tasks that include but are not limited to: maintaining and/or replacing door hardware, tenant services requests, special cleaning, minor repair of furniture and floors, replacement of air filters on HVAC equipment, and general maintenance as assigned.

·  Performs normal plumbing maintenance such as fixture repairs and maintenance, unclogging toilets, sinks, and drains and soap dispensers.

·  Repairs on registers and radiators

·  Cleanup of equipment in engine room and engineering shop, repair of floor maintenance equipment and Venetian blinds, maintenance painting in equipment rooms, cooling towers and other building facilities.

·  Replace fire extinguishers when needed.

·  Miscellaneous handyman work requiring the limited use of hand tools.

·  Other: Assists other operational staff members in repair and maintenance of building equipment.

·  Complies with policies for the safe storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

·  Maintains records for work completed in a neat and organized manner.

·  Performs other duties as assigned.

·  Assists with Electrical/Mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance of critical Data Center electrical equipment and controls located within the interior and exterior of building(s).

·  Candidate must complete all assigned specific training within the required time.
·  Must learn and become familiar with the Data Center critical path, one-line drawings, equipment and procedures
·  Candidate will be required to complete ongoing certification training programs with a passing score.

Position Specifications:

·  Education - High school diploma or equivalent.

·  Job experience - Two year previous experience in HVAC or Electrical Trade.

·  Special knowledge and skills - Some skills in electrical and mechanical aptitude a must.

·  Personal characteristics - Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.

·  For internal candidates, must have constantly received a “meets expectations” job performance review.
·  Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs. and using ladders up to 25’
