ENO offers a rare treat among Chicago wine tasting rooms. Take in fantastic views of the fireworks and Magnificent Mile scenery as you indulge in some of the world’s best wine, cheese & chocolate at our downtown Chicago hotel. Whether you're a casual sipper or a vino connoisseur, you'll appreciate our friendly service - offered without pretension or pressure. You will agree, this is not your everyday Chicago wine bar restaurant.The Server position in ENO Wine Room provides courteous beverage service to guests in regards to ENO’s extensive and changing wine list, chocolate selection, and cheese selection. Ensures quality presentation and service per established standards. Works with on-site sommeliers to provide a courteous and unique wine experience for guests. Assists with set-up and maintenance of restaurant and inventory.

Your day to day

GUEST EXPERIENCE

·  Greet all guests and review ENO’s extensive wine list and food menu in a prompt and professional manner.
·  Serves drinks and/or menu items to guests; upsell when taking orders.
·  Monitor guest behavior and amount of alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; check identification whenever age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is questionable.
·  Perform pre- and post-shift side-work.  Stock service station.  Fold and stack cocktail napkins and prepare bowls of bar snacks.
·  Clear and clean tables in a prompt and efficient manner.  Clean and/or wipe down stools, tables, chairs, walls, windows, mirrors, and floors as necessary.  Empty trash and ashtrays.

FINANCIAL RETURNS

·  Record order on guest check and ring up on pre-check register or according to hotel procedures.  Complete customer payment transactions according to cash and charge procedures.
·  Alert Management of any service and/or safety issues. Make appropriate service recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total guest satisfaction.    

PEOPLE

·  Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.  Coordinate with sommeliers, bussers, and kitchen in all purposes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need from you

Strong knowledge of wine and how to present/describe wine is required. Must speak fluent English.

This job requires the ability to perform the following:

·  Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (bar ware, carts, boxes, bottles, etc)
·  Moving about the lounge and kitchen
·  Bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting

Other:

·  Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, sommeliers, wait staff, cooks, and supervisor.
·  Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc.
·  Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit.
·  Required to work nights and weekends, as well as some holidays.
