Job description

Why join IBM Design?

At IBM Design we are responsible for creating intuitive and compelling user experiences with our software. We want to delight our customers with perfect moments that create unbreakable bonds. We need to know what our customers want before they do. The IBM Design organization has undergone a dramatic re-investment over the past 5 years, with the hiring of almost 1600 designers. We've also introduced industry best practices around design thinking and agile, created our own practices for design research, and created our own corporate design language. IBM Design has created a network of 45+ IBM Studios located all around the world, and the IBM Studios Böblingen team is the center for Germany. Join the Design teams mission to build revolutionary business products that change the way people think and work.

We are looking for an experienced designer who thrives in a collaborative environment. Join the IBM Design team in designing enterprise analytics and governance solutions for Fortune 500 on-prem, private and public cloud.

You are an experienced User Experience (UX) Designer with a proven record of delivering iconic user experiences. You have at least three years of experience delivering best-in-class designs while working within a design thinking / user-centered design framework in an agile process. You demonstrate leadership, technical curiosity, and tenacity to partner with some of the leading technologists in the field. You should be a self-starter, creative in thinking about design issues, have strong communication and documentation skills and be able to work with a wide variety of people (designers, developers, product owners, etc.) - both face-to-face and via video conference calls with our worldwide teams.

Tasks will consist of designing business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces, translating actionable insights from the design research team into mockups and wireframes (low and high fidelity), creating clickable prototypes for user testing, specifying interactions in detail etc. You should be fluent in using current tools and methods, but also be open to investigate and learn new approaches to solving problems, an appreciation of UX best practices and an investment into IBM Design Thinking.

Responsibilities:

·  Work with other UX designers, researchers and product managers to understand user's needs and behaviors for the industries in which they work
·  Clearly and quickly deliver ideas to cross-functional teams
·  Provide information verbally and visually through low and mid-fidelity renderings and clickable prototypes
·  Test and validate working hypotheses with users through usability testing of wireframes, clickable prototypes and published product, and participate in design critiques
·  Defend design choices using previous user research and usability standards
·  Work with Visual Designers and Developers to bring concepts to life while maintaining UX best practices

Key Skills:

·  Able to focus on design detail and ascertain user value and impact as part of their software experience.
·  Creative, curious, questioning, open to take and provide critique and have a ton of initiative
·  Experience solving complex design problems for Web interactions or software solutions
·  Demonstrated ability to translate research findings into complex interaction designs that provide usable, effective and efficient experiences to users
·  Demonstrated ability to produce and enhance low-fidelity sketches and medium fidelity wireframes to facilitate communication of recommended solutions
·  Demonstrated ability to create interactive prototypes.
·  Demonstrated ability to tell a meaningful story about the user and great presentation skills
·  Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate alternative approaches
