US Clearing Operations Client Service Associate

Job description



Management of all client responsibilities from onboarding through the daily activities addressing inquiries, issues, and requests in a timely and professional manner. Partner with Sales and execution to understand client profile to be able to offer a high level of customer service as well as identify potential revenue streams.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions :

Directly manage team responsible for the following

· Handle queries and exceptions related to Margin settlements
· Address any issues or inquiries from clients or FO including trade breaks, commission issues, foreign exchange conversions, etc.
· Proactively advise clients of deliverable positions approaching expiry ensuring they understand the timelines and risk involved.
· Monitor client balances to ensure all seg/sec regulatory requirements are covered.
· Regularly contact and meet clients to better understand their needs and address HSBC service performance correcting any gaps with improved procedures and oversight.
· Liaise with front office sales and execution concerning client activity looking to identify potential revenue opportunities and increases in service.
· Act as a point person for all key clients working on any project initiatives resulting in a stronger foothold with clients.
· Work with clients to understand needs around reporting, margin settlement, products, deliveries, Futures Direct etc.
· Assist client with OCR regulatory setups and ensure exchange setups are complete (Globex trader registration, memberships)
· Identify firms that will execute for the client and work with them

Decision-Making Responsibility :

· Client facing role will meet with and work directly with clients requiring independent decision making.

Management of Risk
· Each employee must be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
· Each employee must ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
· Each employee must promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Observation of Internal Controls
· Each employee must maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year end performance assessments.
· Each employee must understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Desired profile



Qualifications :

·  Ideally having 5 years' experience within Clearing operations and client services
·  BA/BS degree in Finance or Business Administration
·  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint
·  Exceptional client facing experience & ability to manage expectations effectively
·  Strong analytical and problem solving skills
·  High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain an enthusiastic, service-oriented attitude under pressure.
·  Very strong interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to deal with Sales, Risk, Credit, legal, Trading, and other stakeholders across the organization
·  Series 3 or Series 99 licensed preferred
·  Experience with vendor platforms such as R&N, GMI, Clearvision EEO/AA/Minorities/Women/Disability/Veterans
