Platform Engineering Lead - Distributed File Storage

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion into 2020, we are currently seeking an experienced Platform Engineering Lead to join HSBC Technology.

In this role you will be the technology expert in the distributed file storage team, responsible for the product engineering strategy. You will define standards/best practices for the product, manage the product offering in its entire life cycle, contribute to new products evaluation of features, support security related initiatives that are relevant to the distributed file storage products, provide consultancy both internally and to other areas like engineering and global business team.

Key duties will be to:

Set the product technical strategy in the domain and specific solutions in standardisation.

Manage the product designs and technology partnership with external vendors/suppliers.

·
Provide technical leadership, and work with business or product owner, business analysts to deliver storage solutions that aligns with all engineering directions and standards through cross organization consulting.

Define and develop distributed storage service offering catalogue, maintaining its currency and relevance with continuous feedback from IT Engineering teams.

·
Lead the automation design and implementation of automation, system and process APIs for the product and services responsible for.

·
Address performance requirements and reusability, scalability, availability, recovery, integrity and security challenges, as well as business functional requirements.

Ensure products align with Cloud first strategy, highly automated and API driven engineering strategy

·
Lead technical product engineering teams/ specialist groups, which serves as a technology forum for product discussion.

·
Represent the storage team to provide consultancy and expertise in cross domain / technology engineering and solution design.

Desired profile



Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

· 
Solid technical experience and subject matter expert knowledge in the storage technologies owned by the corresponding domain

· 
Exposure of working on Global or Regional Engineering and application teams and Integration domain

· 
Solid and proficient skills in latest Storage and Cloud technologies (e.g Block/File/Object/Backup)

· 
In-depth understanding of the technical product and platform usages within the Enterprise Services sub-function and future roadmaps

· 
In-depth understanding of industry and vendor technology directions for the sub-function to enable HSBC determination of which technologies to adopt and at what point in the lifecycle

· 
Excellent Influential communication and interpersonal skills, able to operate well across cultures and in multicultural, diverse work environments

· 
Analytical with the ability to understand and resolve complex problems


The base location for this role is Barnsley.
