The Engineering function at the GSK Barnard Castle GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply) site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved.
We are looking for a driven Engineer Technician to join our team at the GMS manufacturing site at Barnard Castle. Reporting into an Engineering Team Manager, you will take responsibility for a wide range of engineering tasks and duties related to equipment performance, including making improvements, to ensure delivery of the Site's commercial objectives within the Steriles Business Unit. This includes enabling, and strengthening, the site's technical capability, as well as prepare it for future advancements.
The key responsibilities of the role include planning, scheduling and prioritising of engineering works, maintenance of all production equipment, and prompt fault finding/diagnosis and rectification on all production equipment. This role is aligned to support the Steriles Business Unit which manufacturers syringes and vials. As an Engineer Technician you will be a member of the Syringes Engineering team. Specifically, you will provide maintenance support and fault finding on a range of processes and equipment as well as carrying out planned preventative maintenance and dealing with breakdowns. You will also provide support to investigations and continuous improvement initiatives, as well as support fault finding on installation, commissioning and validation of new equipment (including generation and delivery of validation documentation), all with the ultimate objective of ensuring the site can produce our products we supply to our customers.
PLEASE NOTE: The Barnard Castle site runs a 7 day per week manufacturing operation. This role is within the site's negotiated roles and is a shift-based position, currently on a Double Day shift pattern (2 shift rotation). Please note, the shift pattern is subject to change according to business requirements.

About You:
This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a mechanically biased multi skilled technician (ideally with an Engineering HNC) with strong people skills. It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Ideally you will have worked in a highly regulated-industry.

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
• Relevant qualifications and / or experience is essential (e.g. Engineering Apprenticeship with an industrial focus).
• HNC / HND Level qualification with a level of appropriate Mechanical Engineering knowledge, but ideally in two disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems or Instrumentation).
• Candidates without a HNC level qualification need to have EngTech status and have completed an engineering apprenticeship and have industrial engineering maintenance experience (ideally gained within a production environment).
• Required to demonstrate competence in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), understands its impact on their own role and the implications of not following cGMP.
