Role Summary/Purpose
The Vandalia Manufacturing Associate E will perform all janitorial responsibilities to include general clean up of all areas of the building. We currently have openings on 1st Shift hours working from 6:00am-2:30pm.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
· Sweep, wax, and clean plant
· Maintain cleaning supplies in janitor storage
· Maintain recycle bins
· Drive fork lift to load cardboard bales
· Comply with and supports all GE policies and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guide
Willing to undergo on-the-job training and formalized training to include:
· Hazardous material training (includes preventing, controlling, evacuation)
· General emergency response under review of Emergency Response Manual
· Confined Space Entry
· Operations of portable fire extinguishers and preventive maintenance
· Review of emergency evacuation procedure
· PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
· Chemical Hazard
· Mechanical Hazard
· Evacuation & Emergency Training
· Forklift/Scissor Lift training and certification
· Medical Surveillance
· Hearing Conservation
Qualifications/Requirements
· High School Diploma / GED
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
· This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
· Able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds non-repetitive. With assistance, occasionally lift over 50 pounds
· Ability and willingness to read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures and specifications that apply to daily work operations
· Ability and willingness to use hand tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers, etc.)
· Ability and willingness to conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE
· Ability and willingness to work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required
· Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
Desired Characteristics
· 1 year of experience in electronic assembly
· 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical work experience
· 1 year of prior assembly experience
· Ability and willingness to solder and braze
· Ability and willingness to perform light machining including but not limited to drill press, flush and back flush, lead cutting, stripping and forming
· Ability and willingness to perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges
· Ability and willingness to use pneumatic tools
