Role Summary/Purpose
Lube System Engineer will be involved in Thermal System Design into the product development early phases which is a key factor for granting the correct support to the business and customer.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role you will :
· Contribute actively to studies and calculations devoted to get the best detailed thermal and fluid-dynamic secondary system design of new generation aeroengines and new generation of M&I .
· Targets, in terms of cycle efficiency, weight and cost, are continuously raising and need great efforts to assure required goals.
· Collecting and giving feedback to partner/customer is one of our main missions, to improve the level of details of the “thermal & secondary flows” analytical assessment could impact on ability to reduce the design margins with a possible beneficial impact on product cost, life, performance and maintenance;
· Enhance of new/next generation engine architectures targets of efficiency and weight
· Improve the accuracy of lube system design tools to achieve more challenging performance, weight, envelope, maintainability goals
· Full develop, validate and introduce new technologies, design tools and methodologies.
· In particular you will:
· Support the design/validation/certification of engine oil system in the new product introduction process: definition of oil system needs, network design and simulation, accessories and system integration, test plan definition
· Contribute to the development of numerical simulation techniques for engine lube system and secondary system two-phase flows
· Contribute to validation of the numerical methods by definition and design of proper vehicles and rigs and experiments
· Coordinate numerical and experimental activities with partners and suppliers
· Derive simplified models and correlations to be applied in the concept design phase and implement the developed numerical method in the design system.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Energetic Engineering from an accredited university
· Capability to identify the best solution according to different targets of the problem
· Experience in fluid dynamics and knowledge of main computational fluid dynamic tools
· Attitude and capability to perform system level analyses
· Knowledge of 1D fluid network
· Fluency in English language, both written and oral
· Good knowledge of Windows based tools
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Strong technical attitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
· Problem Solver attitude
· Solid interpersonal communication and leadership skills
· EU Work Permit.
Desired Characteristics
· Experience in fluid dynamics numerical simulation techniques, in particular to study multi-phase flows (e.g. Volume Of Fluid and/or Particle Transport Modeling)
· Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
· Passionate, curious and enthusiastic for engineering challenges
· Team worker.
