Role Summary/Purpose

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer will be building engineering expertise adopting Design Practices for Additive Manufacturing within Transportation. This position requires close coordination with Transportation Global Technology groups, Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain and engineering teams from other GE business like GE Additive, implementing and using Additive Manufacturing.
Essential Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering teams to identify and drive projects to that demonstrate the benefits of using Additive Manufacturing
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the functional teams for implementing designs through the additive process, including design, analysis, material selection, and modality.
• Evaluate and build expertise on Computer Aided Design tools for additive manufacturing.
• Act as the main liaison between Additive Manufacturing Engineering and Global Design groups to enable increased usage of Design for AM by facilitating communication and sharing best practices.
• Works with engineering and supply chain partners to maximize additive manufacturing producibility.
• Concurrently work on multiple projects to ensure program cost, quality and schedule requirements are met
• Provide technical leadership for team members and Global technology teams in the form of training, mentoring, talent development, and work verification.
• Continuously challenges self and team skills in functional area
• Stays current with industry developments in the field of additive manufacturing
• Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements as required
Qualifications/Requirements

• Mechanical, Electrical or Physics Engineering Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
• Aptitude with design tools, computer aided modeling, data analysis, and process design
• A minimum of 3 year of experience in scheduling, planning or project management
Desired Characteristics

• A minimum of 5 years of experience is desired
• Additive design or manufacturing experience a plus, but not required
• Experience validating and testing materials in laboratory
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy
• Expert knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), preferably in Siemens NX
• Proven understanding of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and manufacturing processes
• Effective problem identification and solution skills
• Demonstrated change agent with strong credibility and ability influence across the organization
