Role Summary/Purpose

As a Generator Electrical Engineer in the Fleet support team, you will lead and/or undertake tasks related to the electrical and auxiliary components of the generator as well as general design evaluation and fleet support in GE Renewable Energy Offshore Wind. The candidate will work with diverse, cross-functional teams to investigate and contain fleet issues as well as developing design modifications to solve them.
Essential Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have technical accountability for solving fleet support issues associated with the generator. 
Main responsibilities include: 

·  Lead and/or be a key contributor to RCA investigations on the generator and its components. Perform technical root cause analysis of eventual failures and identify design changes needed to prevent recurrence. 
·  Execute Engineering design work on wind turbine electrical components and their assembly within the wind turbine system. Provide innovative design solutions to meet requested functionality, timing, cost and reliability targets. 
·  Identify reliability and performance improvements for components to ensure that the wind Turbine excels in commercial performance. Define and execute roadmap.
·  Lead and/or undertake key tasks in the areas of wind generator design: instrumentation, power and auxiliary boxes, connections and monitoring. 
·  Ownership for electrical generator (auxiliary parts), which includes definition of requirements and characteristics, technical documentation, interface definition, prototyping, testing, homologation and introduction into manufacturing up to issue resolution in the installed fleet. 
·  Drive compliance of components and their use to international codes and standards like IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN etc. 
·  Work closely with the service teams to assure the required mitigations and retrofits are properly put in place and with the right quality. 
·  Work closely with the Supplier Quality organization to ensure design CTQs are tested properly, as well as met and maintained in the serial production process. 
·  Technical support for generator incidences arising from the assembly plants, installation or turbine operation. 
·  Assess field data to improve operability and reliability of the generator. 
·  Participate in the technological watch, actively promoting both the protection and the development of GE’s intellectual property.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent knowledge or experience.

·  Strong Engineering experience or other related field including experience in electrical engineering role. 
·  Skilled in electrical component design calculations, drawings creation, specifications and schematics. 
·  Used to work in global multidisciplinary teams to develop/optimize components/products.
·  Used to deal with industrial suppliers (national and international). Familiar with manufacturing processes. 
·  Fluent in English (written and spoken).  
·  Available to travel sporadically (nationally and internationally) to industrial suppliers and/or to wind farms. 
·  Background working in multinational companies. 
·  Excellent communication skills. 
·  Proactivity, accountability & global mindset. 
·  Proven experience working with structured problems solving methodologies: 8D, 6-sigma, etc. Effective problem identification and solution skills.
·  EU Work Permit. If contracted in Spain:
Non-national candidates are responsible to know the
minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE-
Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain.
They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not
sponsor this requirement.
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience with electrical CAD tools (ePLAN). 
·  Large electrical generator design and manufacturing engineering experience. 
·  On / Offshore wind turbine engineering experience.
