Role Summary/Purpose

We are seeking a strong DevOps candidate who will be responsible for implementing highly
scalable solutions including continuous delivery, optimization, monitoring, release management
and support for all production and development application systems. As a member of the team,
you work alongside Software Engineers to ensure our services and products seamlessly move
from development through rollout and into production for internal and cloud-based applications
Essential Responsibilities

• Designs software solutions to take advantage of opportunities and new technologies, acting as a partner to and a team member of the Engineering and Operations teams.
• Support and improve our tools for continuous integration, automated testing and release management.
• Responsible for implementing strategies for continuous delivery of custom GE software on the cloud.
• Act as a technologist resource, to guide development teams through tough spots in migrations to the cloud.
• Supporting role on the “on-call” rotation (24/7) maintaining a distributed, high availability software environment.
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 2 years of professional experience.
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:
• Solid understanding of operating systems, especially Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat).
• Strong understanding of Apache, tomcat, jboss, nginx, light httpd
• Advanced knowledge of network operating systems, distributed systems targeting the JVM
• Build tools like Maven and Gradle
• Strong scripting skills (bash, Python, SQL, PERL, etc.)
• Experience with design, development and testing of automated deployment scripts. (Jenkins etc.)
• Experience with configuration management and automated deployment (Puppet, Ansible, Chef etc)
• Experience with monitoring tools (NewRelic, Nagios, etc)
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc)
• Operational Knowledge of NoSQL software like Cassandra, MongoDB, CouchDB, Hadoop, memcache, Active MQ, ElasticSearch
• Experience working with container technology such as Docker and/or Vagrant.
• Experience working with version control systems (Subversion, SVN, git, github, etc)
• Experience with deploying and management of systems leveraging AWS (EC2, EB, Route 53, S3, Elasticache, and more)
• Experience architecting or managing AWS (or similar) cloud infrastructure
• Experience with cloud platform (VMware, OpenStack, AWS, etc) production deployments
• REST APIs, JSON, and SOAP XML
• Experience working in a challenging and fast paced environment
