Role Summary/Purpose

GE Aviation is looking for Controls Engineers to begin employment in Spring 2020 to join our fast growing Advanced Military business ultimately owning the design, development, and test of Controls Systems for jet engines. The ideal candidate is ambitious and passionate about problem-solving and pushing the state of the art by innovating with existing methodologies and leveraging their technical and academic background to develop new technologies.
Essential Responsibilities

Position note:  This posting is for an expected start date of early to mid 2020


·  Execute the design, development, and test of Controls Systems technologies to meet business standards and program / product requirements

·  Provide technical support to projects

·  Document and communicate results of technical data generated

·  Share engineering information, promote open dialogue, and collaborate with skilled experts

·  Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews with internal and external customers

·  Conduct system simulations and transient analysis; real time modeling with NPSS; classical, multivariable control algorithm design

·  Manage internal and external suppliers

·  Partner with aircraft manufacturers to develop and evaluate functional requirements

·  Define key characteristics of the electronics, fuel, hydraulic systems, sensors, actuators and control logic design required to achieve the control system functional requirements

·  Use design tools such as Beacon, NPSS, Matlab and Simulink to construct controls system solutions

·  Verify system operation in desktop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop tests (dry rigs and wet rigs), ground engine tests, flight tests

·  Assure proper documentation and communication of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Track project progress and report out on progress towards deliverables

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college

Desired Characteristics

·  Minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4. scale

·  Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

·  Prior intern, co-op, or experience in the Aviation industry, jet engine / propulsion system design, aircraft design or similar

·  Knowledge of advanced mathematics (including but not exclusively limited to calculus and differential equations)

·  Strong communication skills

·  Ability to build strong working relationships and work as an inclusive team player

·  Engineering aptitude and passion for technology and attention to detail

·  Experience using Matlab / Simulink or similar modelling package

·  Program execution, organization, drive and accountability

·  Creative problem solver, excited to begin a career in engineering

·  Have Demonstrated a commitment to community involvement
