Role Summary/Purpose

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for component engineering which includes creating symbols and footprints for electrical & electronic OEM components, review of components, and maintaining components within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, The Electrical Engineer will also be responsible for tracking industry trends and help create a road map.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Create footprints and symbols for ECAD library components, using Cadence Allegro tools.

·  Maintain Global Library of components used by 500+ design engineers at GE Healthcare.

·  Develop & maintain GEHC component technology roadmaps, based on industry trends and GEHC requirements. Communicate roadmaps to engineering community.

·  Research component data sheets and technical specifications and evaluate technical attributes of components to identify & recommend alternate sources for obsolete or high cost components.

·  Work with external stakeholders including suppliers to drive new improvements into the Global Library and design practices.

·  Comply with GEHC Quality Management System.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelors in Electrical / Electronics Engineering and /or equivalent experience

·  Relevant industrial experience in design and development

·  Strong expertise in symbol and footprint creation with one or more ECAD circuit board design tools

·  Experience with creating a schematic and board layout in Cadence or similar CAD tool

·  Ability to read and understand component datasheets and interpret electrical and mechanical specifications including 3-dimensional component views

·  Knowledge of electronic component package types, including board mounted interconnect

·  Knowledge & experience in selecting & qualifying electronic components

·  Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

·  Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task

·  Understanding/working knowledge of engineering design documentation and standard document control practices
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience with Cadence Allegro tools

·  Experience with GEHC tools— PLM systems (MyWorkshop and/or Agile), SQCS, ESMART

·  Knowledge of RoHS environmental compliance requirements and compliance, IPC1752 documents, and other material declarations

·  Knowledge of circuit board DFx (manufacturing, testing, reliability, etc)

·  Depth of knowledge in one or more specific types of electrical components

·  Experience with global & cross-functional teamwork
