Role Summary/Purpose

GE Renewable Energy – Lentronics is looking for a highly motivated Embedded Firmware Engineer with a strong work ethic and a reputation for delivering cutting-edge, world class solution with high quality and outstanding performance, to join our design team working on the latest technologies for industrial grade communications equipment.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Develop firmware for fiber optic packet switched solutions for critical applications
·  Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering
principles and adhering to business standards, procedures, and program requirements
·  Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
·  Triage and resolve reported issues
·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks
consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Qualifications/Requirements

·  BASc, MEng or MASc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
·  5 years embedded software development experience in a complex product environment

·  Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills required, assembly language preferred
·  Highly proficient at partitioning systems and defining interfaces between components
·  Expertise in embedded software development for Linux and VxWorks
·  Experience with PowerPC and ARM architecture 

Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not
limited, reference verification and background check.

Must have unrestricted Canadian work authorization, or obtain work
authorization in the short term;

·  Highly proficient at partitioning systems and defining interfaces between components
·  Experience with device drivers, diagnostics, and understanding of hardware devices
·  System level debugging under complex, real time communication and application operations
·  Experience tuning real time sensitive code to get maximum system performance
·  Solid understanding of the data networking industry including LAN/WAN and network layer
protocols
·  Working experience with Agile and or Kanban
·  Working experience with Software version and revision control tools (ie. SVN), Bug reporting tools (ie. JIRA), Code review tools (ie. Collaborator)
·  Must be a driven individual, self-starter, capable of performing and delivering without extensive
management oversight
