Job description



EY’s Global Trade team includes more than 750 practitioners in more than 140 countries working together to solve import and export challenges worldwide.  Our practitioners have experience in customs, export controls, economic sanctions, anti-boycott and anti-bribery in customs clearance and related trade topics.

Our practice is multidisciplinary, including professionals with accounting, legal, government and industry backgrounds. This diversity of backgrounds allows us to look at situations from multiple perspectives, helping clients efficiently reach their objectives.

As a Global Trade professional, you’ll identify and address areas of risk, advise clients on the taxation implications of international trade and assist them in complying with customs regulations. Working in EY’s Global Trade, you’ll gain wide-ranging experience across different industries and opportunities to work internationally and receive the support you need to become an effective tax professional.

 

  Your key responsibilities:

·       Contribute to building and maintaining key client relationships by delivering exceptional client service;

·       Identify and develop business opportunities, both internally and externally, with clients and industry contacts;

·       Lead engagement teams to prepare project plan and estimate timeline assisting clients to achieve project objective in an efficient and timely manner;

·       Work with staffs/seniors from project teams and provide supports/guidance where necessary;

·       Be prepared to travel for field work at client sites where necessary;

 
Skills and attributes for success

·       Updated with customs rules and regulations, as well as liaise with relevant government bureaus, such as Customs, Ministration of Commerce,National Development and Reform Commission, State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

·       Ability to provide technical supports to clients in areas of customs valuation, tariff classification, country of origin, commodity inspection/quarantine compliance, import/export procedure management etc.;

·       Capable to identify issues with regard to import/export activities and handbook management in practice, conduct technical analysis on the issues, highlight the potential risks and recommend the way to improve internal control and management;

·       Knowledge to plan for group corporation, company restructuring and international transactions, from China Customs and VAT perspectives; and

·       Experienced to perform routine customs audit and certificate audit according to customs requirement, review import/export activities in audit period and drafted audit report for submission.

Requirements:

·       Bachelor degree or above;

·       A minimum of 5 years of relevant Trade and Customs experience in China or internationally;

·       Working experience at Customs, or trade/customs compliance experience with professional service firms/Fortune 500 companies as a plus;

·       CPA/CTA/Legal qualification preferred;

·       Excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin;

·       Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., MS office and online research tools)
