Our National Tax Practice is comprised of a dedicated team of tax professionals strategically positioned across the country.  As a client serving associate within the Indirect Bankruptcy Tax team, we’ll look to you to apply your knowledge to a wide range of bankruptcy tax areas and processes.  You’ll be part of a team of seasoned professionals engaging with clients to produce strategic outcomes.

Our Indirect Bankruptcypractice helps our clients plan, execute and integrate their strategies.

 
Your key responsibilities
You’ll likely spend much of your time communicating with EY team members, Clients and Tax Authorities; asking appropriate questions in the course of those conversations; receiving direction from our Indirect Bankruptcy Tax Manager and/or other Bankruptcy Tax team members.
We’ll expect strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and use support software and other similar tools. We’ll look to you to develop strong relationships with our clients and team effectively with internal resources.

Skills and attributes for success
·  Participate in engagement management, compliance, EA/SOW creation and engagement invoicing support
·  Provide project management in the form of overall bankruptcy practice pursuit support,  revenue tracking and engagement project management in the form of monitoring status, open items and follow-ups required on specific engagements
·  Provide engagement compliance support in the form of bankruptcy proof of claim and tax notice review and analysis, tracking and resolution
·  Reviewing and analyzing Client bankruptcy proofs of claim to document claim content in a spreadsheet, work with Client to validate claimed liabilities, identify issues requiring additional diligence and work with Client, Client’s external advisors and/or the taxing authorities to resolve open items and document the final correct claim results

 

To qualify for the role you must have

·  Associates’ degree or equivalent experience;  Business, Accounting, Finance, Paralegal or equivalent degree preferred
·  An understanding of routine preparation of engagement invoicing, including creation of bankruptcy-specific fee applications
·  Ability to create and maintain pursuit tracking for the firm’s overall Bankruptcy Tax practice
·  Ability to provide engagement revenue tracking for the firm’s overall Bankruptcy Tax practice
·  Ability to maintain follow-up logs and execute appropriate follow-ups
·  Experience taking meeting notes and documenting such notes in the client file
·  Strong attention to detail
·  Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
·  Critical thinking ability
·  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software applications
·  Working knowledge of EY internal systems and procedures is preferred
Ideally, you’ll also have
·  Ability to travel to Client sites as needed (estimate less than 25%)
·  Overtime expected when engagement demands require
·  1-3 years of relevant experience
·  willingness to secure basic certifications as may be required for tax authority power of attorney compliance
