Organization

The Commercial and Business Developer reports directly to the deputy Managing Director in charge of Development and Strategy. The position is based in Paris area (La Défense) and the activity is global with candidates needing to be prepared to work in a range of different countries and environments internationally.

Mission

The mission of the Commercial and Business Developer is to initiate and manage business opportunities for ENGIE Solar by supporting Business Units (BUs) as required throughout the project development phase, managing ENGIE Solar offers and customer and partner relations, developing new opportunities, solutions, tools and offers and ensure the ongoing competitiveness of ENGIE Solar.

Main responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in a very dynamic environment and will be expected to demonstrate a strong sense of personal initiative, autonomy and responsibility as well as a strongly collaborative approach.

Originate and initiate early-stage solar PV and solar + storage EPC opportunities for ENGIE Solar by engaging with ENGIE BUs and external parties

· 
Accompany, advise and support BUs, providing solar PV-specific development expertise as required to enable them to launch and develop utility-scale solar PV. Where requested by BUs, this can include site origination and screening, developer negotiations and other business development activities

· 
Manage the commercial activities associated with EPC offers, including providing commercial support to EPC Project Managers and legal teams for commercial negotiations and commercial relations

· 
Manage pre-qualification and non-binding EPC offers for utility-scale solar PV opportunities covering site assessment and screening, yield calculations, conceptual design and conceptual costing

· 
Manage or support solar and storage opportunities in collaboration with ENGIE EPS and, potentially, other partners

· 
Ensure the competitiveness of ENGIE Solar EPC offers and ENGIE solar PV bids by supporting and challenging EPC teams and ENGIE BUs

· 
Manage commercial relationships with BUs and 3 rd party customers or stakeholders throughout the project development cycle in a strongly customer-oriented and collaborative approach, anticipating needs and issues and proposing and implementing solutions

· 
Propose and lead or support the development of new offers, in particular those leveraging new technical or business innovations

· 
Contribute to or lead market, strategic and competitiveness analysis

· 
Implement project development governance for projects managed, including bid-stretch sessions, engagement committee governance and lookback exercises

· 
Propose and develop new tools, processes and working methods to improve efficiency and competitiveness

· 
Work in a spirit of close collaboration with BU's, the R-GBL, EPS and other ENGIE teams, seeking to maximize the value and promote the interests of the ENGIE Group as a whole

· 
Ensure the competitiveness of projects and manage competitiveness as continuous improvement, ensuring information, learnings, ideas and solutions circulate continuously to business developers and more widely across ENGIE

· 
Execute all activities in full respect of ENGIE ethics and risk management policies

Education, Experience & Skills

The Commercial and Business Developer's role is key to the business success of ENGIE Solar and ENGIE as a whole to deliver on solar PV development ambitions and to ensure this is achieved in an efficient, collaborative spirit. We seek candidates with experience in solar PV, renewables and other relevant areas with the following profile:

Strong university qualifications in engineering, preferably with additional business training

· 
5-10 years work experience in solar PV, renewable energy and other related areas in an international environment

· 
Business development experience

· 
International profile and experience

· 
Experience of renewable energy and/or other new energy technologies

· 
Additional experience in commercial, finance or strategy fields

· 
Fully fluent in English and at least one other language. Proficiency in more languages an advantage

· 
Based in Paris with frequent international travel
