The Role: Electrical & Instrument Technician II

Purpose
Responsible for performing selective maintenance on various in-plant and/or satellite plant equipment. The work will include the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems, computers, controls systems, etc. and equipment that can directly affect the safety and operation of the plant.

Essential Job Functions
·  Perform routine plant electrical/control maintenance functions including, but not limited to motors, MCCs, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, UPS/battery systems, and all electrical hand tools.
·  Perform emergency plant electrical/control troubleshooting on plant equipment.
·  Performs preventive and repair maintenance work tasks on plant equipment
·  Conduct predictive maintenance as assigned, i.e. vibration analysis, thermography, lube oil sampling for analysis, component inspections.
·  Installs, tests, calibrates, tunes, programs, repairs and troubleshoots pneumatic, electronic-powered equipment, low/medium voltage, analog and digital process control loop hardware.
·  Install electrical conduit and pneumatic air tubing.
·  Maintain all plant electrical/control equipment to the highest possible standard to maximize plant availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability.
·  Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes.
·  Analyze electrical problems and take appropriate action to correct and advise supervisor when outside assistance from vendors, engineering contractors, and/or consultants is necessary.
·  Provide assistance with and, to the extent required, coordinate work of maintenance subcontractors with subcontractor supervision.
·  Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all assigned equipment.
·  Track performance maintain history and assess condition (predictive maintenance) of plant electrical equipment. Maintain and review such records and report findings as required.
·  Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes, which will enhance unit operation and equipment availability.
·  Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other Plant employees.
·  Will be assigned to work in areas designated by Operations & Maintenance Supervisor and will perform duties sometimes not related to Technician work.
·  Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the Plant in a clean and neat condition.
·  Master a shift turnover process to ensure a seamless transfer of information to the oncoming shift.
·  Perform root cause failure analysis techniques when solving plant abnormalities and equipment failures.
·  Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
·  Comply with all Plant & ENGIE safety programs and ensure every team member complies with all safety procedures.
·  Accountable to immediate supervisor for ensuring adherence to the Plant's Safety and Environmental Programs, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance. Shall immediately report to supervisor any known or suspected violations to your Supervisor or Management Personnel.
·  Perform and document pre-job hazard assessment and provide pre-job briefs as needed.
·  Assist with routine maintenance training and equipment operation training of other site employees.
·  Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance skills required to perform duties and assist in the training of others.
·  Carries out other duties as assigned

Requirements

·  Must have troubleshooting and maintenance skills in CEMs, DCS, PLCs, Supervisor Control Systems, medium voltage electricity and related modular controls systems.
·  Strong computer background on PCs, DOS windows, emission controls, distributed logic controllers and pneumatics.
·  Must have valid driver's license and maintain driving record acceptable to company's insurance carrier.

·  Regularly required to use hands and arms to touch or feel, and use tools.
·  Frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
·  Occasionally required to climb or balance.
·  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
·  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Education/Experience

·  5+ years experience in related field
·  High School education or equivalent required, Trade/Vocational School and/or Military training preferred.
·  Experience in electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation (steam/ electrical generation plant experience preferred)
·  Experience in maintenance of gas and coal fired boiler controls, turbine controls, and gas turbine controls.
